Default Infotainment screen went dark

I had an isolated occurrence over the weekend when I started up my 2014 convertible and the screen never came on. Nothing I did seemed to remedy the situation - but once we reached our destination, the next time I started the car everything was fine, and has stayed that way through numerous starts ever since. Did I potentially do something wrong to cause the no-screen situation? I just wondered if this was a common issue. Thanks.

Mine went dead a couple weeks ago. It had been jittery before that but would usually settle down. Not now... nothing

Truly a disconcerting situation for sure. I had my HUD refuse to display for two days... it came back... one of my big concerns about pursuing a C8 Z06... as they become more electronically dependent, especially on bespoke components...

Was there any audio playing? Did all the HVAC controls function? I have encountered this issue many times with customer vehicles and ultimately find out that an OTA software update was recently installed OR there was one pending installation.
Based on the single occurrence and that it has not happened again, I speculate this may be what happened - The OTA update was partly downloaded and interrupted at some point requiring a system reboot to get it all back on line again.

For me, it's not a super common issue but the only ones typically requiring replacement are the ones with a fist print. The majority of them just need a bit of coaxing to come back.

I will say that when my battery was on the way out as I have a 2016 that had the factory battery in it until I changed it 2 months ago I had some strange things happen. When my HUD dies while on vacation I thought for sure it was screwed. Disconnected the battery and waited 15 minutes. Reconnected and everything back to normal.
