Default Supposed to look like this?

Hey all,

Recently ordered the Akropovic system from Meraki Autoworks (great experience, btw) and will be pairing it up to a Billy Boat Xpipe tomorrow morning.

I did a parts inventory along with an inspection and noticed that the muffler tubes aren’t cut clean through where the muffler pipe clamps to the Xpipe. (or the extensions if you cut the factory Xpipe)

My common sense is tingling and telling me that the clamp area should be cut through so it’s able to flex and compress around the adjoining Xpipe.

Both pipes are identical but I don’t like assumptions.

Need a sanity check.

Image attached.

It's been years since I installed my Akrapovics. I don't remember specifically how the pipe was cut but it fit beautifully over the Corsa X pipe I chose and doesn't leak so I never gave it a second thought. I wouldn't worry about it. There's plenty of quality built into the Akrapovics.

You might try to contact Akrapovic to see what they say: https://www.akrapovic.com/en/about/c...ct-information

Sometimes the "bridge" between two cuts is sacrificial and when the clamp gets tightened, it "breaks" allowing the pipe to compress. Worst case, cut it and install it or install it "as is" and if it leaks then slice it.

This is exactly what I did. I only needed to adjust the position of the driver side clamp and everything sealed up perfectly.

The fitment and quality of this system is crazy good.

As long as the joint seals up properly, which you found out it did, you’re all set. From what I have read, that system is an excellent choice.
