C7 Z06 vs C6 Z06 performance

My reasoning for the A/C delete is that if Chevy is already offering it in the '14 Z28, there's a good chance they'll do the same in the Z06. They will offer A/C as a no cost option, and this way they can claim the weight savings, at least on paper and in print ads, even though 99% of the people out there will order the car with A/C and radio.

Ferrari and Porsche can always get 100 to 200 pounds out of their track specials (GT3, GT2, GT2RS, Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, Specaile, etc." by having the same frame and basic suspension components but the use of carbon ceramic brakes, ti exhaust, lighter forge wheels, thinner glass, less sound deadening, lighter manual seats, a/c and radio delete options, carbon fiber door panels, DSSV vs. the heavier mag ride shocks, and last but not least lighter engine internals (maybe a few ounces here but here's a few ounces that counts) can really add up. My quick calculation below totals to about 160 pounds lighter than the regular C7 if it had a NA engine or weight about the same if FI.
thinner glass 5
ceramic brakes 34
ti exhaust 35
manual seats 30
less sound insul. 15
forge wheels 10
lighter engine components 1
dssv shocks 5
ac/radio delete 25

Agreed about ditching AFM and getting weight savings, but I think your 100 lbs is a little optimistic. The AFM hardware adds ~5.5 lbs to the LT1, 15 lbs for the tq tube being steel vs. aluminum, and maybe another 20 for the exhaust valves needed for 4 cyl operation (not the NPP valves). I see the change being closer to 40 lbs if aluminum and maybe 50-60 if they use something more exotic for the tq tube. Still, 40 lbs is a significant savings that I'd like to see them go after on a car that's mileage should be less of a factor.

Hopefully the C7 ZR1 will have something that looks this good under its hood. If they are going to use a L88 NA engine, this would be a perfect platform to work from and get you 700hp.
Add some new tech to the old 20 year old idea: VVT DOHC, DFI, etc.. high rev - 8k rpm capability.
Back in the days, LPE and others were able to extract 640hp from this beauty with bigger bore 415 cid. The largest bore were 440 cid from someone else but I lost track of how much hp that produces?
It would make other exotic brand envy.

Even though lotus(which was owned by GM) did the R&D on the LT5, the production engines were manufactured by Mercury Marine in Oklahoma for GM.

Either way the LT5 was a very expensive motor, mix that with who owned what, and you get a canceled motor

I painted the large tubes white to match the car, it looked great, it was my 1st vette(I was a junior in high school) and ran 13.4 with m&H racemasters, plenum, throttle body air foil, large tubes, and sawing my air intake grill open to expose the K&N, and taking out the mAF screens.
A year later vendors sold open grills
