Anyone plan on going to the reveal?

If I remember, you're staying at the Westin at the airport, right? Ann Arbor is probably a 45 minute drive west of the airport . . . always lots to do there . . . restaurants, clubs, etc. Especially that Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan - always lots to do. Some moderate to upscale dining if that's what you like (Gandy Dancer is a favorite of me and my wife), and lots of places that cater to undergrad and grad students as well.
If someone is staying downtown, Greektown is an area with some nightlife, and if you're into sports, perhaps check to see if the Red Wings are playing at Joe Louis (within walking distance of Cobo Hall, where the NAIAS is). The Fox Theatre is a gorgeous retro theatre, check to see if there are any plays/concerts there. There are also some small theatres near there if you're into live theatre, and a few restaurants and sports bars (including Hockeytown). City Theatre is attached to Hockeytown. Detroit Opera House is very nice, if you like symphony orchestras, plays, etc. I have no idea what is actually on the schedule for the Detroit Opera House, City Theatre, etc.
If you're in the northern suburbs, Royal Oak tends to be a hub of activity. Lots of restaurants/sports bars/coffee houses/boutiques. R.O. is probably about a 20 to 25 minute drive from the heart of downtown Detroit. R.O. and Birmingham are also the hub of activity for those who have been to the Woodward Dream Cruise. I used to live in Royal Oak, and there was always stuff to do.
Western suburbs - Plymouth/Northville area has a nice downtown. Restaurants/bars/sports bars/boutiques. Probably 30 minutes or so from the heart of downtown Detroit. There's a small community theatre (Tipping Point) that has original plays and adaptations. A restaurant that my wife and I have enjoyed is The Garage - contemporary American cuisine in a revitalized 1930s/1940s garage.
High level overview - if someone wants more details, post in this thread or in the Great Lakes subforum. As my wife and I have kids to deal with now, we don't get out as much as we used to. When we lived in Royal Oak, we used to have season tickets to the Wayne State University (Detroit) theatre program, Detroit Institute of Arts membership, and did a lot more in metro Detroit. Now that we're 60 miles northwest of Detroit, we tend to do things in the Brighton/Howell area.
All drive times cited are non-rush hour, non-snow

Should've added, if you like casinos, Detroit has three of them . . . Motor City, Greektown, and MGM. Since you're part of the Saturday trip, I believe that lunchtime has us going to one of the casinos. I tend to forget about the casinos, since that's not my thing.

Last item . . . Windsor (in the province of Ontario, Canada) is right across the river from Detroit. Trivia question - what's the first foreign country south of Detroit? Canada.
Lots of good cuisine there, and there is always the (in)famous "Windsor ballet" (slang for adult entertainment). There is also the Windsor Casino, and they have good live entertainment, with name acts.
If one decides that they want to go to Windsor - BRING YOUR PASSPORT. With the post 9/11 security, you will need a passport to re-enter the country. There might be some other forms of documentation accepted, but I'm not current on that, and really, a passport results in the least amount of hassles.

In Dearborn there are the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield village (outdoor).
Not sure of their hours and in an evening you would likely not have enough time to do either one justice.
They are fascinating.
Google them if you might be interested to get details.
Just sayin'

Safety Car
Cool, literally! Is it optimistic to plan a caravan to Detroit on January 13th in Corvettes that are sold only with summer tires...?
