I remember the C6 Z06 had pics released a week or 2 before the Detroit auto show. Since the auto show is in mid January, do you think we will see anything before the end of the year? Any speculation how much earlier we will see it?

They are keeping it tight this time. Maybe a few days before we will get a leak. They were probably testing the thing right along with the Stingray in camo.

What would not surprise me is if they say the new C7 Z can be ordered this spring as a 2015 model with delivery starting in the summer of 2014

One of the reasons why I go out on this limb is because of the amount of customers STILL waiting for the new high performance CTS-V,(not the V sport twin turbo 6 cyl) that will probably use the same motor as the new Z model vette.

For sure if GM does not introduce a new high performance V model CTS before next fall, GM is going to loose a large number of customers to any one of the already several 575 Hp plus luxury sport sedans and coupes already available from multiple manufactures.

GM wants the Cadillac name to be competitive with the high HP sedans and coupes already on the market from several different manufactures, however I do not believe for one second they will introduce a new V model CTS with an LT4 motor in it before the same motor is available in a C7- Z model......... if they did they would seriously **** off a lot of loyal corvette customers more than would be advisable for them to do

Just my gut feeling as I put on my flame suit.

CTS V never used the LS9 of the ZR1 it used the LSA engine, 638 vs 558/580 Caddy vs Camaro plus less forged parts. I don't think Chevy will let Gm use their top engine to compete against Corvette.

The C7 Z model corvette and the CTS V are not in competition with each other

Back to the OP's original question, the C6 Z06 was leaked a month before the Detroit announce so the C7 Team is definitely keeping a tighter lid on the C7 Z06:

Above – First released November 9, 2004 – Then, on November 10, 2004, GM asked several commercial sites to remove this picture. We assumed it was the real thing (cleverly photoshopped with a fake color).

Above – On Sunday evening, January 10, 2005 the 2006 Corvette Z06 was officially announced to the world.

I am shocked that the full Z06 has stayed hidden from cameras.

Remember when someone posted the picture of the ZR1 as it was being shipped to the ring before being released to the public.........somebody who was not even a GM employee lost their job for taking that picture and posting it

GM is an economic force to be reckoned with, and will use it on their sub-contractors who are the most likely ones to have an inside shot at getting a pre-release picture of the new Z model.

Something persons just looking for a picture don't have to worry about

If they auction one off, it will be the "rights" to the first one. The coupe and convertible that they auctioned off last year weren't the actual vehicles; Rick Hendrick got the first production ones, but the ones on stage weren't those, they were prototype/show vehicles.

True, but cars were there. I was wondering if the unveil will be before Barrett Jackson. I'm sure Rick Hendrick will be the winner if it's there.

Press preview days at NAIAS are the 13th and 14th (Monday and Tuesday). GM can always elect to introduce the C7 Z06 ahead of time, like they did with the Stingray last year. B-J Scottsdale is the 12th through the 19th. Auction starts on the 14th.

GM could introduce the car at NAIAS, and then have the same or another example at B-J later in the week.

I did a quick search on the lots up for auction at B-J, and don't see a 2015 Z06 listed.

722 hp would require ice skates as a mandatory option

I would say keep an eye on where GM will be in January (before Detroit show).
Only place I know of is Daytona. So, I will be driving over for practice next weekend, with my camera...just in case I see anything strange. Hope to get some shots of the new C7R as they practice too!

I think the one they will reveal in Detroit will be trucked to Barrett for the Sat. 1/18 auction just like last year and yes Rick will be buying vin 00001 of it.

Careful on that statement. I think most folks get they are two different cars but I am one of those folks that will be looking at both.

I own a 06Z and a 09V. Love them both. Been actually driving the V more. Getting ready to put my Z up for sale and will look seriously at the C7Z
There is quit a few folks that have swapped back and forth between the Z and the V.
I do agree that folks would be pissed if they announced the new V first even with a toned down version of the LT4.

A lot of people have them both at the same time because they compliment each other very well......... personally I could not think of a better pair of American made cars to have in my garage than a luxury sedan and a sports car both with LT4 motors in them
