I agree. 400lbs is

We will see soon enough! Im afraid the TQ management will be the ultimate factor in the 1/4 mile...

Deep down myself I have the feeling that the C7Z will be a 9 second car stock on DRs. Or damn close to it.

Luv my C6 ZR.

Bring on the C7 Z.

Unlike what some apparently believe current ZR owners feel about a new big dog - some of us like Corvettes. Particularly Zs and ZRs. I'm looking forward to the C7Z and hope it's the real deal.

IMO and for some reason the introduction of the C6Z added a new type of "top dog vette" owner to the group who had already owned multiple top dog corvette models, and always cheered on the next generation's top performance model. Many of this latter group also bought ZR1 vettes and will purchase the high performance C7 models as they are released.

You can usually find owners from the first group mentioned above at Hooters telling the hired help how their corvette is still the best one ever made

Yeah, some guys are car guys and some aren't. One of the coolest, baddest rides out there IMO, while a vette, isn't even "new". A well done C2 resto mod with a 600+hp LS driveline and modern suspension is good stuff.

A C7Z that rocks my ZR will be "good stuff" also.

I'll easily beat the ZR1 is every category, hands down.

If it does have an automatic, the gap in acceleration will be big. Anyone could have posted a sub 11 1/4 with the ZR1 if it had an automatic then so the jump from the C6 ZR1 to the C7 Z06 is going to look much more drastic than it really should have been, but that's what going to happen with the auto.

It's worth noting that the Z51 has already been tested at 1.1 gs on the skip pad and 60 - 0 braking of 93 ft, both better than the ZR1, so it's not like the Z06 has an uphill battle; we're already looking at better figures with the Z51.

It's really an easy win IMO.

You're both foolish.

If they make a Z-06 with an Auto... I'll be the first to eat Crow!

GM needs and wants to sell cars....not having a option for an auto trans is a mistake imo. I think the A8 will find it's way into the Z.

I like the C7 and am looking foward to the C7 Z06.

I still love that 427 and the look of the C6 Z06. I sure hope that the new C7 Z06 is a wider body and looks "different" than the C7 Stingray.

The new 8spd auto can handle up to 738ft/lbs of torque.

Trust me. Thats no mistake!

If GM did not plan it for the Z06 they sure did not need the TQ rating for the base/Z51 car.

what will the price of the C7 Z?
lets think for a second...if it does come supercharged then we can assume that it will perform better then the ZR1. So with that being said how can it be priced lower then the ZR1? OK ...minus out the C7 Z has iron rotes ext...but still we are talking 100K car, not the # that the mainstream vette guy wants to hear. So I conclude that it will be a large bore LT1. If it is NA it still will outperform ZR1 all day.

Get out of the sixties .If you want to accelerate with the big boys you need dct. There is no way around it.I am a guy who loves standard trannies as much as anyone, but that being said dct is the way to go.

Yes, DCT is the way to go... and I'd be good with a DCT option. I will not be good with an AUTO option... and I don't think GM would do that to their 'TRACK CAR'.
