I know this is a Z06 thread, but when the Stingray came out there was talk of a little brother that would be a "base". We may lose site of that option now that the Z06 is about to take the throne, but I think we may see base, Stingray, and plain-old Z06. An additional base or not, they left the option on the table with a "Stingray" as the initial offering and as you said, to avoid it being the "base car".

Pretty sure the lower base car was just rumors and speculation that may have been considered during development but isn't likely to see the light of day at this point.

They did say that they didn't like the normal car being referred to as "base", since every Corvette is special, but I also got the idea that every C7 would be a Stingray, so I guess we'll have to see if they unveil a Corvette Z06 or a Corvette Stingray Z06.

I actually did not know that. But the fact that they left it off original "Sting Ray/Stingray" Corvettes speaks volumes doesn't it.

No need to dig up a 60 year old design reject and paste it on a new car.

I'd love to see a badge delete option, just like the 911 has. One Corvette logo on the back, and one on the front would be perfect. Leaving out the Stingray badges and the Corvette script on the back would clean things up nicely. JMHO

A good friend and I got into a little heated discussion when I told him his gt500 is nothing more than a mustang, as is a z06 nothing more than a corvette. I was getting to the basics of each car and how they differ.

Man did that **** him off!!!! You would think I was really telling him that he was in fact driving a sh!tbox yaris with snake emblems!

No matter what, there will be people that dont like to throw stuff out there and then there are those that buy cars for nothing more than status symbols. Sad but true as it seems as there are more of the latter and getting "worser every day." -axel rose

I love my GT500, but it IS a Mustang. Your friend is being silly if he thinks otherwise, or takes offense when presented with that fact. Admittedly, it is a fairly bad *** Mustang, and very fun and easy to mod to insane power levels, but a Mustang nonetheless.
