The additional info you provided about the three levels is interesting. Leads me to believe there will be a significant price difference across the range.
My guess is:
1: Z06 coupe
2: Z06 convertible
3: Z06 Z07 track model with all the expensive performance goodies.

The GTR was an AWD car from inception (or at least from back in the Skyline days). You cant just retrofit the current design into an AWD architecture any more than you can just move the engine behind the seats to make it a mid engine car.
If they were going to make the C7 an AWD car, why would the base be RWD? Why would they go through the trouble (and expense) of designing 2 separate drive trains for 2 models coming off the same line?
There is zero chance this car is AWD... You have a better chance of seeing a $62,000 base price.

If GM were to do a HI-Po version of a AWD vehicle it would likely be a Cadillac or the next gen Camaro since it will be based off of the ATS platform which already offers AWD.

Surprisingly it is. The Benz 5 and 7 speeds were torque conveter autos, and now the 7 speed is not.
The 5 speed however, sticks around soley for the v12's, as it's the only thing that can handle their 1000Nm(738lb-ft). The first plethora of 65AMG cars came out in 04 with 604hp.
And no offense to you at all jleews6, thanks for the info. However if one bit is wrong, what are the odds the other bits are...

I'd also point out that it's basically a given that the Z06 will come in a vert. Thus, this will be the 1st time with a hardtop/vert high-po Vette, and only hardtop Viper(and I haven't heard of plans for one myself)!?!

I think calling the Z06 a track car and offering a vert is silly. Just my opinion though.

Carbon Fiber torque tube would be awesome, I know Pfadt made one for the C6. It makes me wonder 1. can it be retrofitted to a C7 stingray and 2. how bad would the stingray sound/feel in V4 mode with the CF tube.
