Should be GMs next project. It should come with no less than 1000 HP, yes, that's right, 1000 mother ****ing HP. And get 30 mpg.
And no, I ain't kidding.

Even my best Irish Whiskey won't do that to me.
Perhaps OP went "hiking" in Colorado.

The C5 Z06 has 385/405 hp. The C6 Z06 has 505 hp. The C6 ZR1 has 638 hp. The C7 Z06 is rumored to have 620 hp (?).
Plenty of room for another 100--125 hp increase in a C7 ZR1 model if GM decides to build it.
(this is all marketing; appropriate engine capability & technology is assumed)

Ok, so more than double the horsepower of the LT1, and get 1 more MPG... Ummm... No...
The only way this would be possible even in a fantasy would be a hybrid with an electric motor to drive each of the front wheels. So, basically Chevys version of the Porsche 918.
Sorry, 30 mpg from a 1000 hp ICE in a street legal car is not feasible.

Who would even want that much HP? The Zr1's 638 and soon to be C7 Z06's 620 is already overkill. My C5 at 650 isn't fun for the street and isn't useable except for the strip. I think the c6 z06 at 505 is the sweet spot. But we all know the next thing has to be bigger and better....

You couldn't use that much power in stock form even if you wanted to.

Sure you could. You'd just be using it at track events rather than on the street.

You see my point? A 1000 hp power plant in a car that gets 30 mpg at a price point that is below 7 figures may be possible with technology that doesn't exist yet, but in terms of anything available for this generation car? Not even remotely close.
