Why do they think it is an auto?
Has anyone seen concrete information (or even remotely credible info) about a transmission choice in the Z? It seems like Jalopnik is basing it on the paddles in the photo, the same ones you use to activation active rev management in the current car. Do we have a dozen threads questioning GM's decision-making for no reason at all?

There's mounds of evidence. The paddles are marked with +/- and there's a P in the dashboard. Also the new 8L90E gearbox can handle the new Z's torque, I'm sure someone else here could fill you in on every last little detail but an 8 speed auto seems to be a sure thing.

Burning Brakes
The dam automatics today are so quick shifting....most believe gm will go that route...
Might not happen at all although sales of the higher priced z06 would increase dramatically if a automatic we're available.
Less than 2 hours from now we will find out.
I look forward too DcT fans onThis site too have their heads explode as it is announced no DcT available for corvette.
I was a DcT fan yet I am willing to consider gm s experience and expertise in lock up torque converter technology to provide superior driver experience and performance until proven I otherwise.
I have been driving manual transmission cars for Over 30 years yet I'm
Willing too consider my first autoimatic paddle shifter corvette ever.
