Yeah but ur blue oval is gonna look like a shifter cart if u got the nads to even pull up next to this new fire breathing beast on the street. Keep ur pony car, ill take my new Z in cyber grey in level 2 and own the street while ur at 7/11 bragging to 14yr olds about hp.

This is way more fun, which is what being an enthusiast is all about.
How lame would this era be if it were a "gentleman's agreement to rate all sports cars the same horsepower."
Competition is great. Isn't that why so many people love sports?

Scraping the splitter.
Same day, same track a GT500 and a Z06 are going to be VERY close. Honestly, I've ran ~.2-.3 quicker and 2-3 mph faster than the ones that were at OSW when I was running my car a LOT. Nobody has been able to match Furman's 10.98 yet and it probably won't happen.
But see, I have all the data on the GT500 because...duh...I'm #2 on the fast list (by .1), have tons of vBox data and track my car. So there isn't much to dispute.
And there won't be much to dispute when a GT500 lines up against one of these new C7 Z's.
But Ford will bring out something better that what they have now, they always do.

I hope GM doesn't keep watering down the Corvette line with all of these unnecessary models. I loved the C5 Generation. The base car, which was fast enough(with convertible option) and the kick-*** track car. The C6 lineup was too Mustang/911ish with all of these new models. I like the "either you want one or you don't" mentality.

I don't like forced induction. Give me 427 NA cubes. I've talked to more than one ZR1 driver who complained of heat soak at track days.
If I were buying a C7 it'd be the Z51, no question. For me 460 HP is enough … but I know some of you are expert drivers and can manage 625+ HP on a track day. I'm only an occasional track day dude.
Besides, I'm not convinced that more HP always = more fun.

I wish Chevy had reworked the NA LS7 with direct injection, variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation and then it would maybe be close to 540 HP.
Then leave the forced induction to the C7 ZR1.
Then it would be:
Z51 = 460 HP
Z06 = 540 HP NA
ZR1 = 675 HP FI
Then leave the forced induction to the C7 ZR1.
Then it would be:
Z51 = 460 HP
Z06 = 540 HP NA
ZR1 = 675 HP FI

ZR1 will still be back... you guys are crazy... GM is in the business to make money.
ZR1 has a strong following ever since the 90's model.
The Z06 from C5 to C6 was night and day... yet GM still came out with a ZR1.
They will again... Twin Turbo, smaller Cube V8.
Glad we have a great car to tide us over in the meantime!

It will sell as there are a lot of deep pockets car enthusiasts out there.

Melting Slicks
The ZR-1 was built to drum up hype for the Corvette nameplate when sales were sluggish due to a longer than expected production run of the C6 platform. The GS and the 427 Vert were also stop gaps to help level out sales and generate interest in a tired platform. The C7 may not see a ZR1 or a GS if sales of the Stingray and Z06 meet sales targets each year they are in production. What we will likely see is a bump up in horsepower for the Stingray in the '16 or '17 model year and an added performance package to the Z06 a year later to keep interest in the model. Don't expect a 10 year plus generation this time around, technology is moving faster than ever and GM will need to innovate sooner to maintain a sales edge.
