Default End of ZR1

I can't imagine the need for a ZR1 in the future. There are only a handful of vehicles world wide that can run with this new Z06

I'm going to duck and run after saying this, but I agree and disagree:

Agree, the Z06/Z07 is more than enough car for the street.

Disagree with the idea that GM does not need to make a ZR1 in that the Shelby GT500 makes more HP stock and the way for GM to win the new era of the "Horespower Wars" is to be the King with the highest stock rated HP car among the domestic manufacturers.

Anyway you slice it, no matter which company leads the Horsepower Wars, in the end, WE THE CONSUMER END UP THE TRUE WINNERS of the Horsepower Wars!!

T

This car can run with the 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Huracan, upcoming Porsche GT2 and Mclaren MP4.

The only 3 cars that can't touch are the Porsche 918, Mclaren P1 and La Ferrari..

He said at least 625 hp ,I can bet it will have 650 just to surpass the viper hp, regardless there is no need for a zr1, GM won't have two FI cars, heck GM didn't have 2 performance cars until the C6, there is no reason why people should automatically think there will be a ZR1 or GS, it's not happening this time.
The 625+hp the Z is making will be more than enough! as the suit said the C7z easiy beat the old ZR1 on the track 1st time out.

I will forever cherish this period in automotive history. And it's good to know my GT500 is still king of hp for now.

Delete post please. GM is going to do what GM is going to do. I don't work for them or know someone's uncle's dog walker that knows the guy that ate lunch with someone at the plant that seems to know the future of GM to be able to contribute to this conversation.

I'm sure if you search this forum you can find people who said the same thing when the Z06 came out. Technology moves forward people...

It's more like the end of the Z06 - and a renaming of the ZR1.

What is the power to weight ratio for your GT500 and the C7 Z06? I kind of think you'll loose any race with a new Z06...

Its a good time for those of us who weren't around for the 60s era HP Wars.

Here's to hoping SRT tries to take a stab at the King spot against the Shelby GT500 and the Z07: follow their lead and throw on a little 1.7L blower on the Viper and see what it can do!

HP wars are just stupid at this point, I never understood the one-up-manship. Perhaps if you hand built the car it is impressive, but buying a factory car and bragging about it is, something a kid would do.

I am far more impressed with the tools Chevy can give purchasers so they can leverage the cars features around the track.

Sure, I like having a high HP car as much as the next guy, but so what some Mustang has more HP, it is a fat pig.

Z06 is a couple of tenths faster in the 1/4 under perfect conditions with a great driver and track prep with very similar trap speeds (if not a bit in favor of the GT500). From a roll, it's a wash (believe it or not).
However, I'm betting the C7 Z06/Z07 with the 8-speed auto will drop kick a '13/'14 GT500 into the next week.

Don't throw that line into the SVTp site ( I see you there too) you may upset a few people.
