Barring Corvettes, there have been a few modern appreciables.
The Ford GT's are silly money now, as are the BMW 1-Series M coupes. Those things go over MSRP several years later now, and with thousands of miles. Realistically, this wont pertain to the Z06, as they'd have to pump out no more than perhaps 1500 and then quit for good. If some odd planet were to align with some other odd planet, and production ceased that quickly, then you'd have a potential investment.
In short, won't happen. Not unless you want to put the car in a bubble for 40 years.
To people who didn't want to wait a few months. By late 2010 the discounting started, and by 2011 some were going for under $100k. Now they're just another used car, and with the C7Z almost here, C6 ZR1 prices are going nowhere but down for a long time to come.
So, buy a car because it's just awesome in and of itself, not to try to make money.
i collect cars as a hobby ,not as a business, just curious guys
You're welcome to try that. Dealers are already taking deposits and ordering will open soon, although orders are not necessarily filled in the exact sequence they came in. If yours happens to arrive in the first month or two of deliveries, there may well be flipping opportunities, but the market will name the price, not the sellers. Extend that for another few months if demand is way over forecast. But by late 2015 at best, you're stuck with a depreciating asset that's losing value every month.
If you have the cash or credit to buy a new Z06, there are way more profitable things to put those funds in if turning a profit is your goal. If you want a supercar that you can enjoy for many years to come and can accept the financial loss if you ever sell it, then a new Z06 is a great decision.
