Waiting for the weight

No official specs yet. Most mags are assuming around 3,500lbs. It doesn't really bother me because as cars advance with all the gov regulated equipment becoming standard weight goes up. There are tons of amazing cars that still weigh a lot but that doesn't affect the great rush of driving one. 911 Turbo S, GTR, ZL1, Lambos and many others.

Weight will probably be the last info revealed as this is what they are probably wanting to minimize the weight gained from previous Generations.
I think it will be closer to 3600lbs than 3500lbs unfortunately.

I think the curb weight of a car is given with all it's fluids filled and topped off.
C6 Z06 - 3,200LBS with 505HP = 6.34
c7 z07 - 3,600lbs with 650HP = 5.54
Plus I'm hoping chevy can get it under 3,600lbs just cause it sounds better

Don't get me wrong, the C7Z will be an incredible rush. No doubt. But I have to wonder how much better it would be at 3,100 lbs instead of 3,500 or whatever it's going to be.

Not to be argumentative, but I disagree that weight "doesn't affect the rush of driving". I've had a 200+ lb passenger in my car and it made a noticeable difference on acceleration and handling. Granted, my car doesn't have 650 hp, but still.

I (unfortunately) agree. I do hope it's closer to 3500 (or even 3475) but I'm not counting on it.

Being the optimist I am (I think the base will be 78,900 in cost) I also believe the weight will be under 3500#s. My wife drives a Maserati MC which weights over 4100#'s but put into "sport" mode drives remarkably well for it's size...rrm

An easy way to guess the weight is to add to a normal C7 70lbs for SC with the needed equipment plus 20 to 30lbs for heavier duty diff and axles as well as larger wheels.
So basically add a 100lbs over a base C7 and you will have C7 Z06 weight.

Good question, we are all waiting for the answer

But then the Z06 also incorporates some weight saving items that the base LT1 cars don't have as well.

Don't forget the bigger base (ie: non-carbon) rotors/calipers, potentially thicker sway bars/heavier duty springs and even some more standard interior/luxury features (that might only be optional on base LT1 cars) as well. Could be more like 130 pounds higher.

By the way, what does a manual base C7 weight?

The new Z06 will perform no question, however added weight is problematic from a track wear-n-tear perspective. I've gone through a GTR (3800lb) and a M3 (3600lb), now to a Z06 (3100lb), and one of the best parts of owning the Z06 is my pads, rotors, tires last much, much longer than they did with my heavier cars. My C6Z can stay cool and keep lapping, lap after lap, and track day after track day with very little issues because of its light weight... All these next-gen cars like the C7Z will be incredible on the track however they'll eat up consumables at a faster rate... which from a trackrat perspective is disappointing.
