No, not all.

Looked like simply putting some laps on the car (probably for testing parts or durability).

I agree,

Looked like they were giving special avoidance attention to the uneven surface sections rather than taking a chance with bottoming out

Weight can't be ignored, but you can still be competitive with a little extra as long as mos of that extra is helping make the car faster.

In a race car yes, in a street car no.....look at GTR, Veyron, 911 Turbo and others. This is a street car, which mean DOT approval and made to go through traffic with stereo, blue tooth phone, leather seats, airbag, power reclining seats, carpet and a 3 year 36k mile warranty. Now look at a C7 Racer and how much weight is there. Please stop pretending you are a racer...you're not !! because if you are you wouldn't care how much the car weigh. Because you would know that it's a street car.

That looks like the same laguna blue A8 car that's been in a number of other videos.

It wasn't.
The video maker was wrong.

Best I can tell its Z07 aero. It looks like the largest winglets but it's hard to say. Also the rear aero is flat along the top. The brakes however look black but it's hard to tell. Hopefully they're grey and it really is a new Z07. The other thing is that the video was just upleaded. The shooter wouldn't have held the video. I could be being overly optimistic but I think we may get a Z07 time sooner than later!

Best,
Gene

Folks waiting for an N'Ring time "soon" are going to be disappointed. It doesn't look like they got any clean runs in due to the micro-climate that plagues the track. Perhaps they'll go back at a later date and try again, but this most recent trip didn't result in much to present.

Does that happen often? Not familiar. Just asking as on the previous models they posted right away, and more recently the Z28 was posted right away.

Not that it matters a ton..

Autumn brings rain there, apparently. And the further into autumn we go, the more likely it is that small rain storms will plague parts of the track (and it'll be bone dry in other parts... it's a BIG track).

Know that their primary reason for going to the N'Ring is for testing and tuning, and not for bragging. That they can also get some bragging rights from time to time is an added benefit. But Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate; she's a bitch sometimes.

yep, this is what i'm speculating. my expectations are that if GM puts the $$$ into making a record run and assuming similar pavement conditions, the C7Z will best the C6ZR. the C6ZR bar is already extremely high; i don't expect it to beat the ZR by 20 seconds... so probably near the nismo?

but officially, yeah, i expect a lot of the reason for being there is development. or bragging that the car was developed there (for marketing purposes). or at least doing due diligence by using the ring along with many other tracks and conditions.

Looks like they are still there this week. According to BridgetoGantry on Facebook the Michigan plated Z06 was spotted on the road today. Weather forecast is 0% chance of rain today with sun, only good day till the weekend...... go get em Jim!!

Maybe the Level 2 A8 was retrofitted with Level 3 components?

My guess is that the Level 2 did around 7:17. Still believe there is a 6.59 left on the table with the brakes, shocks, tires, wing.

A cold track will be the problem.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on what the Facebook page is saying. Their trip is done. They have all they were or are going to get from this trip to the N'Ring. I can assure you of that.

If they had done a 7:17 with the lvl2 they would have announced it.

I suspect a suspension part failed on Mero's car. The 'Ring reveals the weak spots. No point risking lives until they have found the issue. They'll be back when they have sorted the mechanical stuff out...

If there was a weak suspension part I doubt they would have continued running the blue car around the Ring and they would be delaying production of all Z06s.
