Haven't seen anything yet but I'm still monitoring Youtube, Bridge to Gantry, and B to G Twitter. Here is a new video that popped up today on Youtube. Could be from Monday Sept.29th but it's dated the 3rd of Oct. Who knows maybe they got the ZO6/ZO7 fixed up in time for a timed hot lap.

You can forget about that. The tires are the single most important piece that makes the Z07 faster. Non-Z07s would not even get close to ZR1 times. Look at how slow the ZR1 was before Chevy dressed it in cup tires.
Want to know why the Z28 is fast? 305 section all around stickier than cup2 tire.
If Nissan dresses the Nismo GTR in Trofeo R tires...run.

The Cup tires dropped the time from 7:26 to 7:19, assuming that the run wasn't done under better conditions or with more track experience; I'm sure that the Z06's enhancements vs the ZR1 can get it "close to ZR1 times" on the Super Sports. Will it set a new Corvette record? Probably not, but close to ZR1 Cup times is certainly attainable.

Here's a new video showing the Level 2 aero package. The same aero spec that was on the blue ZO6 A8 at the ring.

However, it only appears so on the front tires.......... I wonder why?
The rear tires show deep cuts on the outside tread that seem to be missing on the front with the same amount of tire exposed?

I hope to get some times this year. I hate the infatuation the world has gotten to over 0-60 and nurburgring times...because cars have just gotten to the limits of the tire. It's no longer about hp or suspension...it's tire. How much can be shaved anymore without AWD or truly active aero...we'll see. If the Z06 shaves over 6 seconds from the ZR1 I'll be shocked....shocked. It will truly be a testament to the aero because that's what it takes. That's why the ACR was fast there, plain and simple. Had they done a track attack ZR1 package of some sort...I think you could've seen 10 seconds.
We'll see.

Oh yeah, it was so slow... it only beat the Carrera GT and the GT2, not to mention that it beat the Nissan GT-R and was right up the Enzo's ***

Since GM didn't post a time I think we can conclude that they crashed before they could break the ZR1s time. And that's the thing, whenever GM does post a time it will likely reflect the Ring conditions more so than the difference in car performance. I say that because compared to track conditions at the Ring the difference in car performance between ZR1 and C7 Z06 is likely insignificant.

If I had to name parts that are on the limit of being improved I'd say:
Transmissions (since DCT's naturally take no time to shift and plenty of gears are available to stay near peak HP)
Breaking (since CCBs can lock any tire for basically the life of the pad during the event; ABS nearly perfectly makes use of any available grip)
Tires can yield the most performance improvement in the future. But I don't think it was ever different. Heck the first 7.0L Corvette easily trashed its tires.

On the other hand it would provide for some interesting research.

I Don't!!!
A decent Z06 time would be great (Less than 7:25 with the A8 would be great!) The A8 might not, or probably won't, even be feasible in a fast Z07 right now, or ever.
There are technological hurdles that I find most interesting! And the tires are a done deal!

Meant as "how much slowER." Didn't mean to break hearts or anything.

I agree mostly with your second paragraph, though; Ring conditions vary quite significantly in comparison with the changes to the cars that run there, hence the selective timing of the runs by GM and the others. That's also a good indicator as to why GM still has yet to release a time for the Z06, although I wouldn't definitively say that the ZR1 is their bogey; they could be waiting to beat the ACR or break 7:10 before they announce it.
