Default Z06 Bites the Nürburgring, 'Ring Bites Back

The Corvette Z06 has been making its rounds on the Nürburgring as of late for its final shakedown tests, and it sounds freaking ridiculous. Take a listen.

Is this a case of Running hard with significantly more weight showing it's obvious drawbacks?

Going into year 2 of production and still no 'Ring time still for Base C7 and now C7 Z06 bites it.

DId this ever happen with the C5 Z06 or C6 Z06?

No.

If you watch Jim Mero's record laps in the ZR-1 and Z06, there are plenty of ragged edge moments. I would call this bad luck.

Hmmm... is that driver Jim Mero? The one who set the C6 ZR1 'Ring record back in 2011?

Same GM Engineer/Driver who was spotted with the mules a few weeks ago?

Looks like Mero to me, he can flat drive a car he puts them on the edge so not surprised he could have a mishap. at least it doesn't look too bad.

It weighs more than the C6s and C5s that ran before it but it DOES NOT weigh more than the BMW M5s, Mercedes SL63s, Nissan GTRs or even Porsche Turbos that also "ran hard" there.
Yes the car is heavier than it's predecessor, but it's not what I'd call a fat pig either.
He probably hit a wet patch or just overdid it a little too much into a corner.

Weight lol, so dumb.

Anyone pushing a car to it's limits could lose it at anytime. It's how records get broken or when feelings get hurt. Hero to zero.

I'm sure that extra ~175# over a C6 ZR1 just caused it to fly uncontrollably off the track. There prolly wasn't nuttin' Mero could do once she got loose.

The fact that almost everybody else goes there makes it relevant. It is also a good opportunity to sample German beers which are not so readily available in Bowling Green.
