Default SEMA News: Chevy considers making 2015 Corvette Z06 parts available

If you've been dreaming about some of those higher-performance features on the new Corvette Z06, but you've been thinking the cost of the car might be way out of your price range, then you'll really welcome this bit of SEMA news.

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/11/...z06-sema-2014/

"Z06 front and rear brakes (carbon ceramic rotors) – the brakes from the Z06’s available Z07 package include 15.5-inch carbon ceramic matrix front rotors and 15.3-inch carbon rear rotors"

So, I will be able to buy the carbon ceramic brakes for my Z06?
Wonder how much this stuff will cost.

So, I get the brakes, and the clear wicker-bill for the spoiler....>>>>>> instant Z07!!

I wonder if the brakes will be backwards compatible with the C6 Z06.

Considering that GM put a restriction on the Z28-specific parts, I think this might be a bit of wishful thinking from whoever wrote the article linked in the OP.
A friend of mine told me even as a Z28 owner, he was having difficulty getting a replacement aero part for his car.

Wouldn't it be better to use C6 CCBs? The brake bias corresponds to the weight distribution as well as the need of various built in algorithms.

All the Camaro Z28 parts are in the new GM performance catalog, if installed on your Camaro by your dealer, includes a warranty.

Not going to lie -- this makes me want to buy a Z06 even less.

Now I see that most of the parts are under the skin type stuff, but there's a few thing in there that just scream: "I wanna look like a Z06"

Damn thing isn't even out yet, and they are already looking to ***** out the name/badge/whatever. That's my take on it at least.

It would be better for the CC brakes probably but two things I that make me potentially interested.

- The C6 CC brakes are not readily available and when they are they are pricey as they are usually take-off

- I am also curious about the C7 Z06 steel rotors as I believe they are larger than the C6 Z06 counterpart - I might be wrong about this though.

I wonder if this list will open up once the new Camaro comes out - meaning right now they are restricted. But in two years, will that list opne up even more?

These parts will be available as an option on new cars only. ie ordering a new Stingray then lets check off some Z06 upgrade items as well when ordering.

Apparently, not an over the counter parts deal. So much for my poser Z07.

I'm not sure where you're looking, but the parts and pieces for the C6 ZR1 brakes are readily available through Amazon or one of our wonderful forum dealers. And they're not pricey, either. Rich quoted me something like $400-500 just for the front caliper on my ZR1, if I remember correctly. Calling that "pricey" is a stretch, IMHO.

Steel rotors are 14.6 inches front and 14.4 inches rear. Brembo Aluminum Calipers 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears for the C7 Z.

Should not be a shock to anyone that you will be able to turn a base car into a "Poser" Z06!

Hell, I still believe there will be another Poser C7....a GS.

It's about sales people....GM does not care if your feelings are hurt.
