Hey guys I been MIA for a while

I ordered this a few months ago
Came in Today , but still Working on trade in values for my 06 viper and 03 z06 ... Dealer is pretty tough and doesn't want to discount the New Z or pay up for my car ... Not sure what to do , either pass on the car and sell my 2 outright , or bite the bullet .... Remember it's dec in Chicago

The Msrp is 90,250
3LT with CF roof and black wheels

My 2 cars to trade

Here is my Z I ordered

Wait, just wait...there will be others. Don't give away your current rides plus pay up on the mark-up. If you really MUST have one now, then go for it.

Thanks,
Carlos

Ok I'll help ya out, I'll give ya $20k ca$h for the Viper right now, sight unseen.
I know I know, that's very generous of me and you're very moved by my gesture but I'm always willing to help out fellow forum members LOL.

There is also a healthy sales tax benefit to consider as well, but don't give those two cars away either, I'd sell them privately and then order another C7 Z06. By the time the cars sell and the new one comes in they will likely be discounting them a little bit as well so it could be a win/win.

Never order a car if you have a trade in and it wasnt negotiated in the deal. Now they've got you. You'll want the Z06 and trade in your car(s) for a lowball offer in order to get it. Dealer makes out on the Z06 and now you're trade ins.

You said it yourself, it's december in Chicago. It's not like you're going to drive the Z in the snow.

Be patient.

I'm in the car business guys ... I Know what the cars are worth , but for them to want to get them under MMR(wholesale) and still be at full retail on theirs is a little tough , the tax saving is about 4k as of right now I need close to 70k for the pair of my cars which is fair they are at 60k , but still making 8k on the Z plus profit on the pair of trades .

We will see what happens soon, if I'm not completely happy I'm ok with walking away , and btw I wasn't planning on doing the trades at the time of order as I assumed it would be 4-5mo since I wanted the auto

I got a trade in quote for my C6 Grand Sport when I put down a deposit. It was less than I would take. A lot less... so I acted in advance and put my car for sale in September. I priced it where I wanted to be and did the right advertising. Dealer offered me $35k. Kelly Blue Book retail was $46k. I sold the car for $51k (it had a lot of custom work).

With that said, advanced planning would have been wise. It's hard to sell a car in the winter and prices drop accordingly. You also have to get at least more than the tax advantage to make it worth selling outright.

OP you need to determine how mucheap money you're willing to lose and how badly you want the car. You need to figure out the fair market value retail for your cars. I think i would trade the highest priced car, take the tax advantage on that get a loan for the difference and sell the second car in the spring when the market is better.

Two things are going on here, the way I see it. The dealer is playing cute, cause they have the hot new item. Course we know the M7's are not in short supply as many are waiting for the A8. The other issue you're thinking about, is the likely price increase coming soon for the Z06, just like the Stingray went up last year after the introductory pricing.

Sounds like you are getting screwed from both ends of that deal. I'm surprised you didn't have the trade deals worked out, prior to ordering a car. Just looking at the clean photos of your other two cars, I'd ballpark $20K for the C5Z and $45K on the '06 Viper. Seems about the trade values I've seen on both.

Headed into winter months, they are just pressing you on the trades, they likely don't want the sports car inventory at this time of year.

Only you can decide this one. If the deal feels wrong, it likely is.

I pre-traded my '11 Grandsport Convt. in Aug. to avoid this very problem. I had the vehicle appraised for the ACV amount , negotiated trade value and received written commitment. I figured I received best value at that time, having 1,200 miles, rather than trading a convertible or sportscar in a Chicago winter. Take yours to CarMax or other dealer and get outright buy figure. If you do, don't forget to add 8.25% to Z06 dealers trade values to compensate, since you lose the tax offset when you pay a cash difference price. Just a suggestion since the dealer probably knew ahead of time he would have you on the spot for trade values when your Z06 came in. I hope everything works out well for you since your Z06 is beautiful. I am green with envy until mine comes in. Good luck!

Since you're in the car business, you should have known better!

Isn't the whole idea of business to make money? Buy for LESS than you can sell it for and sell the new car for MAXIMUM profit.

Just walk away, looks like you wanted a A8 anyways.

Thanks for some feedback guys , I was planning on keeping the 2 cars originally and do have the Viper for sale for the passed few months at $54,800 , it you can buy a teen mileage blue coupe for 45k, that's a steal especially with the full headers and exhaust , as for the c5z it's not a deal breaker since it is a cheap car and my DD, but I'm just trying to get my 6500 tax down to 2k, (7.25%) in the burbs , also I get the fact of the dealer making money and not apossed to that, I just don't see them needing to make 5k on each trade and 9k on the new Z , I'm already up 3.7k from the tax saving.

but at the end of the day if it's meant to be ill get it otherwise I'll just order another

Sure you already have this but... $45k isn't unreasonable for trade. Some dealers will deduct for mods. Maybe that's what they are doing

MSRP is the norm right now, should have thought or discussed your trades when ordered. Buy it and sell them outright your best option now.

Great that you didn't have to sell two cars to get the new one. When you're in a position to misplace/lose a nice sports car, and still be left with a nice sports car... you're doing something right! New car looks great!
