Hey gang -

To those that have the new Z06 (Z07 or not), does your owners manual have a specific section listing the required brake burnishing procedure for the carbon ceramics? Is it akin to the C6 ZR1's?
- 50 60-0 stops in 10 minutes without tripping ABS (street burnish)
- Followed by series of accelerating then decelerating laps at the race track (track burnish)

There should be a supplement to the owner's manual.

It looks like they made the same mistake with the Z/28 instructions that they did with the 2011 ZR1 instructions. It's supposed to be 50 stops, not 5. Five stops won't do a thing.

yes it is the same in the owners manual as the zr1 reads the same will post a pic soon

OK, cool, thanks Derek. No need for the pic. I'm glad to see they didn't do much with the kick-*** pad material that they already cooked up with the ZR1. If folks are going to be hot-shoeing it around, it'd behoove them to follow those steps.

they also list an reccomended track alignment for the car as well. I havent read all the areas but I did have wife read me a few certain aeras I was interested in on the way home last night.

It doesn't look like a typo kind of mistake as five is spelled out as opposed to the number 5 with a 0 missing. But if this is wrong what should I do? I followed the instructions in the manual ... as in 5 stops not 50, I'm now at 600 miles public road driving with no track use (not supposed to track it before 1500 miles). Should I repeat the process a few more times or is it too late and I should leave it alone?

Yep, I know. They goofed with the Corvette's manual in 2011 (I think) too. You can re-do the street burnishing at any time you want. Read this thread for a description of what you're trying to accomplish. Do that before you try to complete the track burnishing. Both are equally important for a car that's tracked.

My owners manual covers "Street High Performance Brake Burnishing Procedure (Z06 with Z07 Performance Package" on page 9-9. It says to conduct 50 60-0 stops (without ABS) in 10 minutes and to then cool the brakes by driving 5 miles at 60 mph.

There is also "Track" burnishing procedure on page 9-10 which basically says to build up to "near full speed" lap 4 with 3 cool down laps.

Not ordered yet, and I'll be waiting. I just dropped 60 large on a brand new GMC Denali 2500HD pickup. That's put a crimp in my "fun" budget. Of course, if I did, I wouldn't have posted this thread because I'd have the owners manual to read for myself. Right?

oh good idea. I may have to do the same. I was planning on throwing a tripod up and recording the entire session from a distance but that angle would be pretty cool as well.

Your wheels should be covered under warranty then as you were only performing a recommended procedure per GM.
