Sorry to hear about that man, I know it sucks to be one of the first but hang in there. It can be replaced.

Since the dealer identified the failure via computer data, could they determine if this valve train failure might be associated with the DoD system (cylinder deactivation)? I'm interested in the hardiness of that system in a hi-po engine.

The problem is people have already gone through situations like this the the C6Z and the C5Z so there is a pattern here.

People have had F430s, 458s, spontaneously combust into flames. And probably F355s too before them.

Cars are not perfect 100 percent of the time.
Fact: every car on the planet has a chance for having defective parts in them that can cause catastrophic failure. Hell just look at the Takata situation and how many countless millions of cars there are out there, with what is essentially a fragmentation grenade in the steering column waiting to go off.
Fact: these odds actually increase the more power is being made. More power = higher stress and not just on the engine either, but the entire chassis.
Fact: For Boosted cars, this applies almost double. Which is why it's so damn important if you're building your own car to make sure the internals are up to the job.

Almost all newer cars have an electronic rev limiter.
Essentially, it's impossible to over-rev if the system is working right.

A very dumb statement. You can always exceed the rev limiter by downshifting into an inappropriate gear.

Until the cause of the motor failure is known everything else is speculation. Inventing scenarios doesn't serve any purpose.

FYI: when driving a manual, and some high end auto-manuals, it's possible to downshift into too low of a gear (4th to 2nd), for example. Doing so can cause the engine to mechanically rev over its limits. It's not easy, but it's also not entirely uncommon. This doesn't appear to be one of those cases.

Try this: Mis-shift from 4th to 1st (instead of 3rd) at 100 mph and pop the clutch. See if the rev-limiter helps.

Not sure what you're smoking. If you review the posts in this thread you'll realize you're the cartoon character.

Sucks but on a positive note all the news Internet coverage brought me to this forum and I'm a true car guy and not a troll, so +1 new car guy sign up. As a former p one of 'those " guys at the factory end, I was making these field decisions so just keep in mind the customer seevice reps number one goal is to "save the brand" so make it clear what you want and how it upholds the GM name and let them come to the party with offers.

Hope you get your Z06 back really soon to go play at the track some more.

It's late and I should be sleeping, sorry for the confusion. Just meant there are some folks not being exactly nice or complimentary about what the OP is going through. But it spread like wilf fire and drew me here so I signed up ro follow along on the LT4'happenings as I am confident I will get one once they are out in the next Gen ZL1. Thats all. And there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here so I hope to learn some new things.

I would have got a Hellcat......faster and not so ugly. I don't think they are blowing up and they actually make the power they claim.
