Default Three Z06's HPDE At Homestead 80°

OK guys, finally got to the track for the first event in my stock shark grey Z06 with the Z07 package. Drove from Tampa down to Miami for a Performance Driving Group HPDE at Homestead-Miami Speedway. I was running instructor and my boy (Chris) was driving in the beginner group. We ran the car hard all day, including a few back-to-back sessions. All in, 9 sessions on the day. We did not experience any heat stroke, or any issues of any kind. The car performed as great at the end of the day as it did in the beginning. Then packed up and drove it back 4 hours to Tampa.

My Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are now slicks on the outer half. Glad it didn't rain on the way home!

There were two other Z06's there, one white and one DSOM. The white one was stock with the Z07 package, and the DSOM had headers and a light tune (sounded like an animal, and boy did it run). All three cars were track prepped with Mobil 1 15-50 oil. Mine had the track alignment as per the owner's manual.

Here's one video from the day of us running together. We're all lined up at the 3:40 mark.

Good stuff, thanks!

Is what I hear "Rev Matching" downshifting or your own heel & toe work? Either answer will be impressive!

Nice video thanks for posting it. Don't tell the other Z owners but I like your car the best and it looks like you were faster too.

They did indeed, here's one of my other session's, the guy in the NASCAR did not like me running with him.

Don't take this the wrong way, you guys were taking it pretty easy on the cars. Not criticism, just observation after watching the video. Seems your car ran close to the modded car on acceleration. Thanks again for video, I am a fan.

Thanks for the PDR videos. Do not mean to be picky, but the white Vette shown in your still photos is not a Z06. It appears to be a Z51. However, definitely see a white Z06 in the video.

Not at all, it's all good. Yes I could have run 1:30's very easy but I'm trying to follow the owners manual and keep my warranty in tack. It states to run a light track day than change the rear end gear oil. That is being done today. Next event PBOC Winter fest at my home track Sebring with my new slicks.

Thanks for the report. Sounds very promising for the new Z.

Track looked very crowded, was that a point-by only group? Anyone run the Z in an open passing group? What are the experience level of the Z06 drivers. Anyone track lap times and can give a comparison of other cars they have driven?

Thanks.
