IMHO, when LG releases their "cooling solution", through the means of additional radiators and their reconfiguration of airflow, it will probably put a finality on whether its the engine itself or the configuration of airflow and radiators that cause the overheat ... Im not a mechanic , however, when I bought my c6 LS3 the day it came out back in 07 (I still have it ) , I would drive from studio city to malibu ca(where i live now) to get access to some great canyons and quiet backroads. By the time I would get there, the car would feel less spunky maybe even sluggish. I was one sad puppy, car was amazing locally what gives?, I looked at some schematics and saw that the z06 had an oil cooler up front. I ended up going to AA corvette and had them add a Z06 Oil Cooler to the front of the car for a grand total of a $100 and Poof , problem was gone.

With that in mind, I believe that putting a couple oil coolers in high and direct airflow areas will fix the issue, I remember seeing temps of 250+ after some spirited canyon driving and only 210-220 post oil cooler. Additionally and just as important the oil temps would cool down ALOT faster with the oil cooler once I resumed normal driving.

Of course rearranging the radiators and separating them across an enlarged area by modifiying our front bumper would probably help too, to what extent would be really cool to find out...

One more thing... when is Katech going to be releasing this, Ive been keeping an eye on this for awhile, if the price is right and I can test drive their engine at their facility I would be highly interested ...

A release date has not been set yet. We are still perfecting it.

Na, what the LT needs is better heads, not some altered bore spacing block that would require custon, dedicated EVERYTHING ELSE lmao

Jason - any early data on the weight differences of the katech 427 vs the stock LT1? Curious if you've weighed any prototype cars or standalone motors before/after.

We have not changed anything significantly in regards to weight so it should weigh about the same as a stock LT1.

If it takes for arguments's sake 100hp to spin the supercharger at peak power level, the LT4 is producing the heat of an 800hp engine, but 100hp is lost through parasitics. Hence the higher BSFC of supercharged engines compared to NA.
You are too kind, they are not even remotely technically correct.

You are absolutely correct, people ignore the power produced and used to drive the supercharger to get the same het crank HP. That produces heat. It takes fuel. Fuel consumption per HP produced increases. It is all physics.

I'm pretty sure I can make that claim. If there is a higher one somebody else has done on the engine dyno please let me know.

Full specs to be released later, but here are some:
703hp/625lb-ft on 93 octane
4.070x4.100"
Callies forged crank/rods
Katech forged pistons by Mahle
Katech LT1 piston squirters
12.5:1CR for use with premium pump gas
DI
Katech AFM delete valley cover
Katech CNC ported heads
Very streetable camshaft. Same or better drivability than K501.

Two all new, not yet announced products:
Katech throttle body
Katech 4 stage dry sump system
-Manufactured exclusively for Katech by ARE.
-Features OEM internal pressure and scavenge pump plus
-2 stage external roots pump
-New pan casting with better windage control
-Screened pickup fittings
-In car mounting will vary from what is seen in the photo

Now that's a bad assed engine...........

This in a Grandsport would make a damn DREAM C7....holy shitballs!!! I wouldn't even want that much honestly. 605 at the crank N/A in a GrandSport is juicy enough imo. I'm getting there. My brain has been all over the place...go C6Z, go C7GS, go Porsche...wtf...

FYI, the Eaton TVR SC on the LT4 uses less than 40 HP at max. velocity. Indeed, it is physics, and the Eaton engineers are very good at that science. GM's aren't too shabby either as it was they who set the spec for the new 4-rotor design.

Bump! Is this available yet? I'm looking to do the 416 or 427 depending on the price point.

Run lap after lap and not even worry about overheating anything.
