Default Steam coming out from under the hood

Had her idling, went in the house... came back out and steam was rolling out of the hood vent...

I was like OH NOOOOO

Then I realized.... I just got finished washing the car.

Same happened to me, I washed the car and then went for a ride every time I stopped at a light the steam came out of hood vent. After a while it stopped, this never happened to my 2014 C7.

This spooked me the first week I had my C7. Just left the car wash and it looked like my car was overheating as I was driving down the road. Nothing lit up on the dash and the temperature gauge was showing normal temp. I figured it was just the water from the car wash.

Last week, had the car out and it started raining as I was driving towards a restaurant. Parked the car and the same thing happened. Steam spouting out of the hood.

Glad to see this is normal.

This is like putting to blocks of ice on the Supercharger after a good run to cool it, then wondering why it melted so fast. Nobody ever published that in an article...

Its normal I guess but why does it happen? What is the water hitting to create the steam. I also have this happen when driving in the rain.

It's the top of the supercharger, a big, flat and very hot hunk of AL in the middle of the engine bay.

So when I am driving say 5 miles from a cold start in 40 degree weather and going in heavy traffic and not using any HP at all that it gets that hot?????

A roots literally beats the crap out of the air to force it into the engine. It is the least thermally efficient, and least efficient period method of generating boost.

Ontop of that it's Aluminum, which is one of the best heat transferring metals going.

Anyone that's ever driven an aluminum intake car before, knows it doesn't take long at all, even if it's just sitting and idling for the temp to change of the intake. Even Dual Plane, or Long Tube runner intakes.

After you wash car, water collects under hood from hood vent, When cooling fan goes on it blows water onto engine causing the steam. Happens to me at exactly the same spot eveytime after wash. Not gonna lie first time it happened I was freaking out lol
