The 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Special Edition is downright insulting to Corvette fans, and it's insulting to the spirit of American ingenuity.

agree it is a insult to the C7R name. That should of been used for a track dedicated machine. Call this washed out yellow car a California special or something. But don't bring down the racing heritage of the C5R, C6R, and now C7R.

Disgrace for this car to share the name and offer zero performance, handling, weight reduction,or cooling upgrades. The yellow stitching is even available in the regular Z06. Who thought up this angle for a performance car marketing strategy? SMH

Yep, its very disappointing. What a waste of the .R
As a corporation wouldn't they want to make an actual special edition and demand higher margins? I know I'd be interested in paying +20k for something actually special and different.
Additionally, what does this leave for their race version in a few years? Wonder what their corporate strategy is.

What, no red mirrors?

Well it looks pretty good, all fancied up. Kind of a shame they put the R for Racing in the model name when the car has absolutely nothing added other than cosmetics. Plus they put it on the one with the fanciest interior, not quite what you expect for Racing.
When Nissan put out the special edition Nismo GT-R, they added performance, like Ferrari with the 458 Speciale, and Porsche with the GT3-RS, Viper with the ACR and T/A. Definitely disappointing.

They should at least use the same wheels. Like most others I also think they should do some performance enhancements. Maybe a more aggressive camshaft for more of a racecar feel? Hopefully they will come around by the time the C8.R special edition comes out.

After hitting it out of the park with the C7, they strike out with yet another cosmetic special addition. They just don't get it. Insult to us, insult to the C7R team and car. They still have time to fix it if their egos will let them. Hold release to mid year and make a truly great Z06 .

The king is naked! I don't get it. The mags are falling all over themselves with praise for a race car that won't go around a race track four times without overheating!? What's going on? Decals and a limited edition plaque, and it still won't survive with a front license plate in summer traffic going up the canyon in Colorado...it won't because I know it won't. Mine overheats and I sit on the side of the road watching Toyotas and Hondas go by while my coolest comes back from 260!

So- $ 5000 of "enhancements" cost (maybe), a +$ 20,000 price tag= and added $ 15,000 total margin: $ 5000 more to the dealer, and $ 10,000 to The General.
I know- let's just make 500 of them, so the dealers can charge $ 10,000, even $ 20,000 over sticker and they are instant "collector cars". ("There is a sucker born every minute."- P.T. Barnum was right.)

Yes, this .R stands for .Rice. I'll have a 3500-pound bag, convertible M7 flavor please. In the middle of next winter at a big discount since everybody else is so "insulted."

no performance increase like you would expect from alluding to the C7R.
easy for them to integrate on the production line since most are part of Z07 option.
actually, it cheapens the Z07 distinction and fools no true performance enthusiasts.

The Corvette Z06 is a "Street Legal Race Car".
This edition just simply brings that fact out more.
Very nice indeed.

Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements: the very definition of "rice." Shameful display.
