Default Z06"s overheat at High Perf Driving School ?

Have been reading on the forum about overheating issues on the Z06 and is making me shy away from tracking mine. Do the corvettes at Ron Fellows and Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving have special aftermarket cooling systems on their corvettes to keep them from overheating in the desert heat ??? Does anyone know ???
Thanks in advance !

I bet that given the synergism between the driving schools and GM, even if their cars were overheating; (and I bet they are), we wouldn't hear of it.

They have a large fleet so they also switch/alternate cars too after repetitive use for each one...

We should be hearing from clients who have taken the Z courses though, unless the schools are making everybody sign a nondisclosure document before taking the course. Many people on this forum are signed up and they will surely report eventually. I've been waiting to hear something from SM now for 2 months on this issue. The driving schools for the Z should be some of the most telling on this debate. DN

I recently did the course and they let you run the cars hard for 3-4 laps and then they take a cool down lap

According to the instructors that I asked (6) at Spring Mtn when I was there for the Z06 class, they all said that they drove the **** out of the Z's and never had a heating issue.

I'm scheduled to attend the last week in July. We'll see how many laps we get in the Z06 before cool down in the dead of summer.

We'll see what the summer brings. I'm pretty sure there is no agenda in Pahrump, and even if the instructors were mum, you'd be hearing it in short order from the drivers (customers) who will be pretty intolerant of their expensive weekend being marred by limp-modes every 20mn session...

Are you doing the 2 or the 3 day course? I'm signed up for June 29, 30, and July 1.

What is the nature of the programs? I think the basic might be mostly lead follow and/or very short lapping sessions. It would be great to hear from members who have taken the advance courses there.

From the number of data points here, it seems certain to be a design issue and, therefore, especially with A8, Pahrump should see lots of overheating this summer (in classes with advanced drivers and 20+ minute sessions).

I did L1 last month and even in L1 you're running ~20 min sessions with day 3 being 25 min on, 25 min off. They break folks out by speed and if you are with the faster groups they push pretty hard.

That said, it was relatively cool when I was there so we probably have to wait until Summer is in full swing.

This could be the answer... or yes, they are having overheating issues.
You didn't happen to ask them why a cool down after only 4 laps, did you? DN

I dare you to try. I bet you couldn't make it overheat if you wanted to. I doubt there's more than 2 people on this entire board who could drive one hard enough to ever have an issue.

And that's being generous just because there might be 2. I bet there are 0.

One guy in one magazine article gets one warning light one time and mass pandemonium breaks out.

Where do you get your C7 Z06 information outside of the internet? Do you hang out at the track all day and talk to other C7 Z06 owners?

You must have missed the part where Tadge himself stated that the car was fine upto 85 degree weather - so clearly anything above that would be cause for concern. That mixed with multiple reports of overheating, even in a car review by Motortrend. You still don't think there's an issue.. because you're always right, right? Even though there's plenty of evidence otherwise.

This is an excellent point.

Pahrump on a chilly day is hot. In the summer its literally hard to catch your breath. If you have never been in the Nevada desert trust me when I tell you its...hot.

The track is basically all turns. Its not an easy track on cars to be sure.

If there were *real* issues with the Z over heating etc there is ZERO chance there wouldn't be droves of dudes giving their first person accounts after attending the Corvette driving school in Pahrump.

Vs a random second or third person on the internet passing along something they 'heard'.

Fact is, people like to have negative stuff to say. Mostly non owners. For some its an attempt to rationalize why they don't have the car. Happens with other makes as well. Go to F-Chat and read all the guys with Scuderias talking smack about 458s...or 458 guys talking smack about the 488...the whole cycle of life in the car nerd world is very predictable and almost funny.

I tried to get in there, but the three day was already booked, so I settled for the two-day a month later since it worked better for my schedule.

Umm....the overheating issue is not an urban myth. It's real.
