Default Z06 vs Z51 in tour mode

Can anyone comment on the difference if any in the ride of a Z06 and Z51 in touring mode?

I had both, and I'd say the Z06 is a bit stiffer. Z06 Tour mode is close to the Z51 Stingray sport mode.

Larger (and heavier) tires/wheels along with a bit stiffer springs, larger sway bars, are likely the cause.

It still rides good, and feels better than my 2008 Z51, and much better than my Friends 2012 Grand Sport (both without Mag Ride).

I hope Michelin comes out with some non-runflat versions of the Super Sport tires. That would help the ride a lot as well.

I had a 2014 C7 Z51 with mag ride and now have a stage 1 Z06. In tour mode on the highway the ride feels the same to me, in NYC streets the Z fells a bit rougher ride but not much. I was surprised that the Z didn't feel a lot stiffer. I'm very happy with the car and ride.

I agree. I drove them both back to back on the same roads and that was my impression as well.

Agree with George Vee. The Z is slightly stiffer.

As we know the Mag ride is constantly adjusting by design. The difference (my opinion) is if the road is smooth and the mag ride can "relax" the ride is fairly close between the 2.

If the road is rough the Mag ride has a harder time covering up the the stiffer suspension hardware of Z.

If you were ok with the Z51 you will be fine with the Z but you will on occasion notice its stiffer.

I had a Z51 Stingray interim to the Z06. I didn't notice much difference in Tour mode, but the Z06 is somewhat stiffer in Sport mode. The larger tires might account for the difference, but it's really not much.

It's safe to say that the difference is not very big. Both cars ride very well in Tour mode. I'm impressed that I can cruise around in "T" in a 650 hp car with the exhaust on "Stealth" and it rides as comfortably and quietly as it does. The MSRC really changes the car.

And remember, if the Z06 isn't stiff enough then get the Z07 option.
Its front springs are 40% stiffer!

My Z06 w/ Z07 vs. my wife's Z51, the Z06 is definitely a lot stiffer. It's not really noticeable except on rough roads. Then you can definitely tell the difference between the two.

I posted this in another thread but with respect to Z07 vs Z06.

The springs, shocks, MR calibration, and sway bar bushings are different. Z07 (FE7) is "stiffer" than Z06 (FE6).

The front spring is 62% higher rate on the FE7 than the FE6.
The rear spring is 22% higher rate on the FE7 than the FE6.

The different sway bar bushing tuning helps get the car to the appropriate understeer level.

The MR shocks on the FE7 have a tighter gap which means a higher “passive” curve in addition to a more aggressive MR damping tuning.
