You hit the nail on the head. Snorman is argumentative. That's his nature. Don't bother getting excited by his putdowns. The majority of his posts are argumentative especially if you don't agree with him. Just look at all the people in this thread he went after. He is probably a very small man in many ways.

Thanks, of that I have no doubt! I hope that GM can somehow be forced into making the necessary changes to close down this thread due to a fix. They should be held liable for their claims about the track capabilities and if a car overheats that, in my opinion, should also be a warranty repair issue.

Actually, you'd probably find the majority of my posts are helping other people and exchanging ideas/info/etc..
The majority of your posts in this section are worthless trolling and negativity. You've been doing it for three years here and in C7. You're one of the regular C6 owners trolling here.
And believe me, I'm probably a much bigger man than you in nearly every way.

I have nothing against Snorman but this is a weak argument. I'd bet my savings GM has some super arrogant people working there. Way more than Snorman. Just look at how many people they let down.....they think they bought a supercar and it only puts out 600 HP after it gets hot. What a freaking tragedy!

So what does it take, 2000 posts in the MegaMerge Overheating thread for GM to pay attention and actually provide a series of fixes for all the people like myself and others who have and continue to have real overheating issues when running their C7's fast on track?
Counting down, maybe it will take 3000 posts, who knows? My car is going into dealer this week, once again!

Just a couple of things:
The A8 is simply NOT an issue in the Z06 on a road course. There has not been one verifiable (PDR data trail) of an owner having an issue with the transmission overheating. This is not true of the Z51's with the A8 as they aren't being supplied with the second transmission oil cooler as OEM as the Z has;
The PS issue: this needs to be addressed as a safety issue IMHO for all owners either via software or getting more airflow over the PS motor which does seem to work; at least it did for me last weekend and apparently has for SBC and a Stick since he did his modification;
The engine overheating/going into limp mode issue: this does not need to be performed as a re-call as the majority of owners won't track the car, and unless something is wrong with your car as delivered, you simply won't overheat this car on the street or 1/4 mile. Rather, what I would like to see is GM release a solution that 'cures' the overheating issue such as a secondary EOC that an owner can choose to have installed at his/her local GM dealer, and that maintains the warranty. I believe that this could be sold as an 'off-road' item and hence GM 'might' be able to avoid having this change to the drivetrain certified, and certainly I'd be prepared to pay to have it installed.

Would love to see GM team up with an aftermarket vendor and offer a solution for the customer who really want to drive this car aggressively on the track. Maybe there is no "legal" fix within GM their parameters? An off road fix works for me. Just somebody give us a tried and true fix!!!
Maybe it's meth injection or water injection, coupled w a "race day only" coolant mixture? Rear hood air exit lovers? Added coolant capacity tank? Remove thermostat to allow full flow? Run with heater full blast (eliminates engine heat as well).
Thinking through this, I really can't believe GM skimped on the radiator, and installing a new $700 radiator is going to fix it. I remember the '84 vettes ran a normal coolant temp of around 230 degrees, due to emissions. I realize that our standard ECM flash/tune may be affected. I know there is one GM engineer brainiac out there that has our fix. Cough it up, even if it's a James Bond move, via a early morning drop off of a memory chip to one of our agents. My pink panther trench coat awaits.

Sorry guys I hate to say this because I know this will hurt but sell your cars if you wanna track em. Sell them to someone who will take it to a Cars & Coffee - that's all they're good for. I ran over a Z06/7 at Laguna today in my Viper like a hunter-killer crushing skulls.. it wasn't even a consideration. I feel bad because the Vette owner really cared and didn't seem to realize 305F was an incredibly risky temp for oil. If I owned one of these cars I'd be hacking holes in the hood, and adding fans everywhere conceivable.
Vipers have their own quality issues from what I have heard. Corvette in general were doing really good at Laguna. C5 and C6 were running faster than some new vipers in the same group. It really depends on driver skill level.

Does this look like cars and coffee? I've got 9 track days on the car so far this year and no overheating problems. The sessionin this video was in the 80's and I've yet to post another session where it was 91F and I spent 23 minutes chasing around a buddy in his C5 race car. The highest oil temp I saw was 288F and the highest coolant was 244F on that later session.

Burning Brakes
2:04 -ish is definitely moving out in a street car at VIR; for comparison the 2010 Viper ACR-X ran 1:56s on Michelin slicks. That was before re-paving. It is interesting that the Z06 did so well at VIR and seems to have cooling issues at other venues.

100,000+ views isn't a bad start.

If you READ what I said, I don't want a competition license, I don't need to compete with anyone, including you, so that's the reason I don't keep lap times or videos, I do it for enjoyment, nothing more. While we're at it, why don't we just drop 'em and see whose is bigger??: If I quoted a post of yours and offended you in some way, it wasn't my intent, but I also think you're getting a bit too defensive and argumentative here, when all I'm doing is trying to get some feedback before I make a fairly significant purchase. First you basically insult me, then you insult my car (which, by the way I did not disclose, and won't, because I'm sure it's not up to your standards), maybe you just need to chill out a bit and not take everything so seriously, you'll live a lot longer. I've always found this Forum to be a good place to discuss Corvette related subject matter with other Corvette owners, not a place to get into "he said, she said" BS, and not a place to do the one-up thing, but maybe I'm wrong on that, at least with some people. Either way, as I've already stated, I'm not in competition with anyone, and I honestly don't give a flying f**k what you think of me, good, bad or otherwise, I'm just looking for a bit of info from some guys that have the experience that I don't, before putting my money down, plain and simple. I never did have any issue with you or anyone else on this Forum, you made it an issue, I didn't, so enjoy the rest of your Holiday weekend.:cheers leaving:

As for feeback, i was at a track day at Mosport last week (near Toronto) with about 70deg ambient. my buddy had his new M7 (white on red, beautiful combo). He's an accomplished driver and could only muster 2 sessions with about 5 laps each before the temps forced him to retire....he was really disappointed. My C6Z did 4 complete sessions, 2 tanks' worth, without a glitch and i still have a smile on my face. Canadian allocaion constraints prevented me from owning a new M7 right now (i configured a yellow on black a dozen times!!) and i thank you guys for contributing here with your experiences....over the last couple of months' reading about this heat issue (i think it first was reported as part of Car and Driver test report at VIR??) i was more and more uncertain about pulling the trigger and kinda glad there weren't enough cars allocated up north here....since then an opportunity for a gt3rs has come up and i'm holding my breath and pulling the trigger today. i love the vette and it would have been my 3rd but i really think GM and dropped the ball badly with this one....i hope it'll get resolved to your guys' satisfaction really soon and i know i'll have a 3rd yellow one in my garage some day (have to replenish the coffers after todays' crazy purchase!!). Good luck guys and keep bugging Mary B!
