2015 Tesla Model S P85D vs 2015 Corvette Z06 A8 0-60
Here is a video of the 2015 Corvette Z06 A8 launching and beating a 2015 Tesla P85D to 60 mph from a street light.
The A8 sure launches great if done right on Launch control.
"2015 Corvette Z06 A8 launching on a Tesla P85D at the light. Z06 pulls 1 car before 60mph. Launch control in Track mode used. Surprised the Tesla owner who thought he would jump on the Z06. Tesla was itching to race, but didn't think the Z06 could take off so quick. 0-60 in 2.8 secs is what GM claims---YUP the A8 Z06 sure performs."
*Excuse the few F*** words in the video, since they were not edited out.*

Scraping the splitter.
Those Teslas run hard up to ~80 mph in their way to mid-11 second ET's at ~115 mph. So 0-60 is about as far as their performance envelope extends.

I've driven the P85D many times. Its a one trick pony, but the trick is impressive to the average person. Throw it in "insane" mode and mash the pedal - its neck snappingly quick off the line. And I have the Z06, but this thing is no joke 0-50mph.

Even if you win, you lose. What are the bystanders thinking as you sprint by at full throttle, and you've got a nose up on a 4 door family sedan?
And that's the lucky outcome.
More likely, you don't use launch control, your tires don't stick, you're .2 seconds slow on the throttle, and now the 4 door family sedan spanks you.

American Muscle Vs. Electric Muscle...thumbs up
Have not come across one yet but about what I thought the A8 would do to this more expensive...heavy Tesla. You guys were both respectful and enjoying the cars...Way it should be and not crazy at all. Too bad the road wasnt more open. I Love my A8....Still learning....there is a launch mode? I just mash pedal in track mode.

Yes, see this post
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rol-on-m7.html
and read about the automatic transmission part in post #2.
It's in your manual at page 9-46 and 9-47 for the automatics.

I test drove a teslas P85d for about an hour. Fast sedan and one of the most enticing in its market segment but at 129 grand no inexpensive.
Thanks for the video

Apples to oranges. Z06 is billed as a track car and P85D as a family sedan. The fact they are so close tells you that if Tesla had a purpose built track car it would leave the Z06 in the dust.

One aspect of performance....the P85d is impressive.
Can the tesla actually run on a road course?
I enjoyed the street drive for an a hour or so...
Quick but not all that quiet from a luxury sedan perspective.
Car needs better sound isolation compared to say a Lexus.
Imo

It's sort of comical watching you constantly try so hard to discredit the C7/Z06. Do you feel better about not having one yet, or will you continue for several more years?

All those YouTube videos are "comparing" the Tesla to "many sports cars" in one single performance aspect, which is basically the only thing the Tesla does exceptionally well.

As the owner of a Tesla Model S P85D, and a cammed C6 Z06, I can say that ithe P85D is no match for a C7 Z06. The only chance it would have in a straight line short distance "race" would be if the Z06 were unable to gain traction.
The P85D is incredibly quick off the line for a nearly 5,000 lb sedan 0-60, and up to about 100mph it pulls.
But as quick as it is, the C7 Z06 is even quicker. And obviously faster.
Also, someone mentioned road courses. Electric vehicles are impractical for road course duty at this time due to a variety of electric motor and battery characteristics.

Nice race VID. I am surprised the Z beat the Tesla. Didn't seem like either launched hard. However, the Tesla is a totally different animal as most are alluding to. It is very fast off the line but the pull to 100 isn't there. Give me my Z anytime and 0-60 doesn't mean anything in a race.
