GM registers "Manta Ray" trademark
What do you guys think? Those who know about this edition vette or the mako, was it just an appearance package or something special?

Back in the early '70s GM had the Manta Ray and a couple other cars on display in the original Corvette Corral at Wisconsin's Road America. I remember watching them drive the Manta Ray out of the Corral at the end of the weekend and watching those rear brake lights flip up when the driver stepped on the brake pedal.
I kind of wish that GM would cease trying to turn the Corvette into a series of cars each model year. The Corvette was originally a very unique single model auto in the Chevy line up from '53 thru '62. With the Stingray in '63 it became a two car line up with the introduction of the coupe in addition to the original convertible. Now days there were standard Vettes, Gran Sports, Z06, 427 Convertible, and ZR1 in the C6 line up. GM should be concentrating its efforts on improving the quality of the product rather than continuing to introduce more variations of the car.

GM is starting a movie franchise with the "Manta Ray" as the protagonist. It's a super hero themed film about a misanthropic loaner that decides to take a vacation at the beach. Upon entering the water, he encounters a large menacing looking creature. As he bends down to get a closer look, the manta strikes with brute force. Somehow the DNA of the Manta and the DNA of the man mix as a lightning bolt strikes the two at exactly the same moment. From that moment on, the man has strange powers. He's able to tell which stores have the best Black Friday deals months in advance, and can always estimate the correct amount of pasta to boil, regardless how many guests arrive.
At least it'll be better than Transformers.
