Talked to dealer and sad if you port exhaust manifolds it's no issue unless you remove cats or manifold cracks. If engine goes they will still warranty it....I'm just super cautious now.

I saw the guys ported thr c7 manifold got 12 rwhp and like 9 tq. I think our manifolds are stainless steel and wondering does anyone have pics of the z06 manifolds or how much material there is to clean up on them?

Gains will likely be minimal on a supercharged car...more free flowing header will drop the boost a tad and nullify any gain.

The boost may drop from freeing up the exhaust but the power will still go UP.....U can run 20psi, do heads/cam/headers causing u to loose 7psi boost and still pick up well over 100 rwhp from the 20 psi stock, as an extreme example

Ditto. Boost is a measure of restriction. Less boost doesnt mean less power.

Blown I shot you a message also. Coating the header and cat pups will also help on heat Temps which I want to do also. I've installed the corsa mid pipes oj a few z06s that have been coated and makes a big difference in under tunnel Temps. I will keep everyone updated on this topic because for a warranty legal mod its worth it.

Tony, in the past I used Extrude Honed exhaust manifolds on a road race Camaro, Extrude Hone then Jet Hot maybe an interesting mod. Likely undetectable and warranty friendly. Kennametal.com in SC does the extrude hone process. Good Luck!

I've done the mental gymnastics of ceramic coating the exhaust manifolds, and I keep arguing myself into a corner. Clearly, doing it will keep the engine bay temps down, which is never a bad thing. But the risk is that it'll just push the heat that would have radiated off the manifolds into the catalysts. That might hasten their death. Then again, maybe it wouldn't. Thus the circular argument.

Catalysts are seriously expensive and covered under a federally required 8-year/80K mile warranty. My concern is that if something did happen to them prior to the warranty running out, the dealer might attempt to deny the claim, using the coated manifolds as their defense.

Round and round I go.

I picked up 11whp/8wtq on my Z51 by porting & coating the manifolds, I'd expect the gains on the Z06 to be larger than that. Great cost-effective mod though, plus drops underhood temps a bit.

Wrap holds in more heat than a coating, plus is even more noticeable. I can't see either having any effect on catalytic converter longevity though.

Understand more noticeable, but not if removed which you can't do economically with the coating.

I'd generally like to agree with you. Note I'm not posting this in any sort of argumentative manner, just going through those aforementioned mental gymnastics again.

A few of us ZR1 owners had our catalysts eaten by our cars for reasons we really couldn't figure out. I've had both of mine replaced, for instance. I know of a few others: some track drivers and some not. The only thing we could assume was that it was exhaust heat related. Possibly due to the LS9 running so pig-rich that the unburned fuel killed them. If that's the case, would coating the manifolds and pushing that extra heat into the catalysts serve a similar function with a similar result?

All I know is dealer said will warranty since your not removing cats or moving location. They said its still oem piece so if motor goes it's not a issue....but if I cut cats off or remove cats then warranty voided.
