Quick and easy Z06 brake replacement to Carbotech 1521's
I couldn't find anything on changing the Z06 brakes so I thought I might post how really easy it is. I actually found this easier than any other car I have replaced brakes on.
So I have 14K miles on the Z06 in 4 months but the brake dust bugs the crap out of me...talked to Adam (who is probably loving this post and hoping for a link) and he sent me the low dust street 1521 pads. Installation was simply lifting the car, removing the rear wheel, punch the to pins out to the rear and out (use a micro screw driver that fits right through), catch the stainless brake retainer plate, pull the old pads and place the new pads in...simple as that.
Place the pins back in, ensuring they hold the plate properly, replace the tire and move to the front tire... The front tire is EXACTLY the same except there is a bolt in the middle that unscrews from the back of the caliper and pops out. And...if when placing the pads in the pistons get in the way (my front left did), slide a screwdriver in there and pull the pistons towards the nearest outside of the caliper (pull forward for closest and push to back for furthest or back pistons; they pull/push in very easily...long gone are the days of clamps!
I figured I would kill two birds in one stone today so did a 2 coat CQuartz Finest first was able to do CQuarts on the caliper, rims inside and out with the tire off... perfect....

Thanks for posting this. This will be my next mod.
Can you update us on how much less dust there is on the wheels?
Did you use any brake lube on the pads?
Do the brakes stop as well as the originals?

The brakes stop as well as the originals and I gave it a good run up and down the highway a few times stop and start. Got home and there was no dust on the pads, whereas that would have been all that was needed to coat them with the Brembo's. No brake lube on the pads and yes they stop as well as the originals. I did get a small squeal from one coming back into the driveway whih I never got prior but it didnt bug me at all.

I put these on my Z06 at about 800 miles and now have 3,100 miles. Haven't experienced any noise at all, they stop equal to the stock pads and produce about 75% less dust. Highly recommend them.

Had the car out for better part of the day today and love the brakes...absolutely no squealing and just cleaned her off, added Sya-bil and put her away for the winter....no squealing whatsoever but for me putting the cover on it.

Had these on my car for over 3k miles, no issues. Have done some very spirited driving in the mountains, no issues with fade. I was paranoid about it the first time, but quickly got over it. Easy 80-85% less dust.

Do you think the CQuartz Finest helped out? I want to do something to the barrels of my wheels too. I have them off for the winter and stored inside. Lastly, where do you find the CQuartz Finest, I looked but haven't seen it offered for sale anywhere.

CQuartz finest is amazing...even over the XPEL and tire rims and it, combined with the Carbotechs, makes brake dirt a think of the past. It is not retail and you can onl pay obtain it from a friendly detailer.
