Default C7 Z06 vs. 16 CTS-V ~ 0-186mph

The CTS-V most likely has the track performance rear spoiler which makes more downforce than the regular version.

Both vids from Hennessy performance.

I know the Z06 Hennessey used was an A8 Z07. By looking at this video, the Z06 slows down quite a bit after about 155-160. The CTS V reaches that "wall" at about 175. Nice comparison for sure. Thanks for posting!

0-60 times were the same for both.
Lots of wheel spin at the start for the Z06
Dont know why the RPM rolled back to 3000rpm for the Z06 at start. (Did the driver lift off the gas?)
That CTS-V is pretty good. I seriously doubt that Chevy de-tuned the engine. I think its the same engine with the same output but they only advertise 640hp so that some of the Z06 owners can feel that they have the better engine.

I drove the new CTS-V at the V performance labs deal at COTA this week. Definitely a great car, but the Z and the V are completely different animals.

10 HP out of 650 is just 1.5% -- there can easily be more variance engine to engine and any changes to exhaust or intake flow on the dyno could account for that 10 HP also. No "detuning" required.

I have both cars and the V feels faster above 70 MPH (A8 in the V and M7 in the Z). Up to highway speeds and anything requiring a turn of the wheel and the Z is far superior, even though the V holds its' own. No, I don't have data to back that up.

Dry sump on z06 could account for 10 hp difference?

The power differential is likely due to intake/exhaust considerations. At the very least a Cady should be quieter than a 'Vette.

I bet the Cady has lower drag and better cooling to keep that power high. The 'Vette has more grip and lower weight. At these speeds I think the car with the lowest drag starts dominating.

No horsepower diff between a Z51 and a base wet sump C7.

The Vs 10 less HP is due to a more restrictive exhaust manifold.

Watch both original videos on Hennessey's YouTube channel. They ran the V up to 190 and the Z07 up to 185.
