Default 2016 Z06, A8 Daytona, sucked is an understatement

Ran the Rolex course this weekend in Daytona, was all excited, met allot of fellow forum members, then I got on the track... Everyone was telling me my A8 was going to give me problems, initially I didn't believe them, because my 2015 Z06 was a M7, and didn't have any issues, so I didn't expect any from the Automatic. Got one and a half laps, and it went into limp mode. I cannot see spending 100K on a car and can't even get two laps in.

Wow sorry to hear that Tony... I know Daytona is a high speed track, but high temps (oil? trans?) already by lap #2 prior to limp mode? Or was it something else that triggered it?

There is definitely something very wrong for you to go @ limp mode in less than two laps.

Yeah, especially this time of the year. I assume that the ambient temp was relatively cool.

I have said this before... I don't intend to ever track this car but it is sad to know that I cant even if I wanted to.

I would bet this is a direct result of trying to track the car with a Halltech intake.

You might want to double check your coolant system before charging in to GM and complaining. There is a very good chance that you have air in the cooling system. It is very easy for this to happen when installing the halltech and even more likely since a coolant line was damaged and needed replaced.

This has happened to several people on here.

Any chance that surge tank issue introduced air into your radiator? If it wasn't bled properly it would not cool properly. Limp mode would happen very fast.

The car has a no-tune CAI and gutted cats. IMO, you can not run a car on a road course like this. Also, as mentioned, I would imagine it pulled air into the cooling system during the issue with the surge tank line. Would also suspect the CAI body may be resting on a coolant line.

Intake and gutted cats with no tune will lean out the car. That will cause an over heat issue.

I would put it back to stock and get baseline runs and laps in to verify cars initial performance before I would take any laps with it modified in any way.

I'm sure you drive it very aggressively but it is impossible to do what you state above at an HPDE unless you're just doing the lunchtime ride alongside.

surprised so many owners buying $500+ CAI's, $500+ expansion tanks, and $800+
radiators and no one spends less than $100 on a vacuum bleeder LOL

1. either you have never run a road course hard or
2. you should be thrown in jail for criminal driving.

Open public highways are no place to use the full capabilities of any modern Vette. Do you know who is coming around that next corner at you? No flaggers to tell you someone is there.

I do have an intake, but the cats are not gutted. I do have an X-pipe, which eliminates the rear two cats, but have done nothing with the front two cats.
