190 miles... Major engine problem
Driving down the highway in my 10 day old 2016 Z06 at 80 mph and heard a loud pop, the service rear axle light came up, car lost most all of its power. Then I came to a stop and there was a loud noise coming from the engine section, and suddenly the car started to shake violently at idle. I then drove to my shop and my mechanic said I have a blown valve train ... Any suggestion on what this could be ? Thanks.

Make them give you a new car, no way would I keep a brand new car that blew up the motor with almost zero miles on the clock. I'm telling you this is getting ridiculous, never did you see the amount of engine problems on the C6 platform than the C7 one has been plagued with. Half the cars tested in the mags blew up the motors under hard use, simply pathetic
When the C6 came out most of the people on here now we're not on Internet forums. George W. Bush was president - think about the state of the world and the internet back then.
Everything is on the internet now and this is where a high percentage of people go when they have problems. Given the average corvette demographic and their use of technology, there were not many on here back then.
Plus you just make **** up. Your posts are filled with hyperbole at best. You probably don't even realize how pathetic it is.

I would think it means you will be getting a new car very soon.

Best guess
Lifters, you are not the first one.

put in a new engine most likely. Many have had this issue and they don't give you a new car, they just replace what is broken

Easy now. There haven't been that many engine failures on the C7 Z's. There were many C6 Z06 issues with the valve problems. I have not read of any magazines blowing motors either. Granted there was the Motor Trend car that didn't put out much boost due to the IC pump becoming unplugged. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems your exaggerating on the C7Z engine deal?

I remember one, but I can't remember who it was. I think that is when they figured out the foaming issue caused by the silicone seals.
It doesn't appear to me that this car has a higher propensity of engine failures than any other new product launch. I have found reports with gen V vipers, hellcats, porsches, Ferrari, etc. all suffering catastrophic engine failures on new products.
I just think it is more likely for people to come online and complain (reasonably) about it than they did 10 years ago.
With that said, keep in mind that there are tremendous forces on these engines. Much like most other mechanical things there are two "high" risk times for them to malfunction. When they are very new, and when they are very old.
I am honestly surprised we have not heard more people complain about engine failures based upon the extreme performance of these motors. To the OP, I am glad that your dealer is taking care of you. GM will probably take the car back put a new motor in it then sell it at a slight markup over cost. It will be win win. Hopefully they will be able to get you another car quickly.
