Default Rear Tire Questions "Street Traction" Best 20" Tire

My buddy has a set of Black Cup wheels 19/20, I know that the 20" tire/wheel combo is not ideal for drags,Street running "Mexico" But they are at such a good deal that I really can not pass up. So with that out of the way what is the best tire for getting some power to the road? My current tires are just like being on ice, Ever since I installed the Halltech & Now the Ported TB, I have ZERO traction. Any suggestions? My Z has the factory Super Sports...Thanks in advance.

What tires are currently on the car? I work for BMW and they use pretty much the same tires for all their M cars...The Michelin Pilot sports for the best all around performance. Even the M5/M6 use them and are extremely heavy. However they still put the power down fairly well from the 560hp twin turbo v8's. I would put them on the list for your consideration. Now there are most likely better options depending on your driving style. But for normal street driving with occasional mountain runs, these are pretty good!

I may just buy some wheels in 18/19 set up. I have the factory Michelin Pilot Super Sports, With my 2 small mods they are not grabbing at all.

Well if it's more off the line grip you're looking for, you might want to consider a more track based nt555r or some other type of drag radial. I'm not too versed in them, so I'm not sure which are the best. But for the next level of grip, that's your next option. However like I said, it depends on driving style and intended purpose. If you're planning on driving only on nice warm sunny days, you'll be fine. But things may require more concentration in less than perfect weather.

Yes, Like I said above looking for a Drag/Street Dig tire, I may go to a 19" wheel, More Choices in 18/19 sizes. also the Nt55r do not come in our sizes. Thanks.

20" cup tire is the stickiest 20" tire you can buy, I have went 1.75 - 60 on them plenty of times. And if you want to wick it up in the curves there is not a better tire

That's what I have but it's too cold and wet to even try them, let alone test them. Any good-weather review on these yet?

Don't all Z06 owners also have a 1970 GMC? Should be required. And you should have to build it by hand, every nut and bolt, so you don't monkey with the Vette when you get bored :-) Everyone asks, so Factory Blue 508 (one year only).

That's going to be THE tire for our cars. For reasons stated I run a 19" nitto DR full time in the rear on a set of RTF spec 5's. I would bet that those 20" MT would stick as well or better than the nt05 DR. For the ultimate you are going to want dedicated 18x12 (NOT 18x13) with the MT.

The 20" Nitto NT05R is NOT the tire for the C7Z.. ask me how I know.

MT 335/20 DR.... That's the one!
