Dave, 2017's have the same issue, look closely at the very bottom corner of your Z06 fender vents where they touch the body color. Mine didn't do it at first. I think the torque with the Z06 plays a role in this issue. It starts small and gets worse. I and others have seen many 2017's with the problem before they even leave the lot.

Thanks Garry I will keep an eye on it not saying it wont happen but hasn't yet. If it does I will just touch it up as I hate having my factory paint repainted.
Folks, the newly designed Z06 Fender Vents are now available for your Chevrolet dealers body shop to order from Bowling Green. My warranty replacement vents are at my dealer as of today and my car goes in next week for this issue to finally get resolved. Just wanted to update you all. I will post pics of the new vents when I get the car back.

This is a brand new car on the dealer floor. Brand new zo6 fender chipping Passenger side My AW 17 chipped fender passenger side Driver side
I refuse to let a body shop paint only the chipped panels and have the color never match. I WILL NOT allow my 100k+ Zo6 to be repainted for a factory defects. And they expect to have me pay to re clearbra it. GM is a joke. Trash car. My second AW 17 ZO6 and it’s even worse then the first. GL GM you should replace our factory defects with factory painted panels or buy these cars back. I will NOT repaint a entire front end to the doors for my bumper chipping, fenders chipping etc. Trash ! I’ve never seen a Honda peel paint or any other car in the world. Built on Friday !
This is really a shame for guys like me. I have a 2015 Z and my B2B warranty ran out 2 months ago. I noticed this problem on my car just a week or so after the B2B warranty expired. Looks like I'm up $hit creek....

Same dealer says they have never heard of the problem and car sitting on their lot has chipped paint in these locations. LOL. Can't sell it for some reason. LOL.

A lot of people don't notice the problem because it is usually just a small area at one of the corners of the fender vent insert. Depending on the color of the car, it may not be obvious with a casual look. I have a 2015 and noticed the problem during the first year--But I hand wash my own car and always look it over. I can honestly say that every Z06 that is over a year old that I have looked at, has a paint issue somewhere around the fender vent. If you look at the vents on the 2019's, there is more clearance around the fender vent insert. My issue was taken care of about a year ago. One of the corners is starting to damage the paint again. Once the new redesigned fender vent inserts come in, it will get repaired again. Hopefully for good this time.

Do you know what year the new gray one is? Is it a left over 2017/2018 or a new 2019?

Here is another thread on the issue. I am in the waiting game with GM as well.
My 2019 Z06 was delivered yesterday to the dealer. I took these pictures today when I stopped in to complete the paperwork and I will be picking up the car tomorrow post PDI.
I went with Arctic White and the Shark Gray vents so hopefully these pictures will help determine any subtle changes made in the vent design for 2019. I inspected both vents carefully and didn't see any type of paint rubbing, however the car was only built 6 days ago. I will take better pics once the car is cleaned up, prepped and the Z07 areo components are installed.
I have seen a few later 18” models and 19 to not have this issue anymore as the vent has been redesigned to fit better and be smaller overall... still don’t want to repaint my car even though the new panels have been released. Will ruin it even more tbh

I have one of the last built 2018 Z painted in the new shop. I have been watching the vents like a hawk. So far so good.

this is what i would have loved to do BUT they don't make shark gray anymore lol...
is what it is. i love this car.....drove it today on some backroads and had some very light fun with a new (temp tag)M550 (whatever that is) and a fiesta ST.. everyone wants a piece of this car
i'm going to do the same with an exacto knife and have it prepped good building the touch up paint over time.. it's barely noticeable from a foot like another member mentioned.
I had heard a rumor that the color had just been redesignated “fusion gray” code 1G1 WA400Y. I currently am reconditioning a 2016 coupe stingray z51 which some rather thoughtless citizen backed. Into and drove off. Leaving behind a cracked fender and no insurance info. So I buy a brand new replacement from gm which came in black ( I think that’s standard yes? It’s fiberglass of course). While waiting to hunt down paint which isn’t 1300$ a gallon I decide to do gecbidy work on the original. Easy enough boom repaired. Finally I hunt up this paint code and subsequent rumor that shark gray is now fusion gray. I have a guy mix me up some paint and decide to shoot the original fender first to work out any potential issues….. fusion gray (at least my blend) is noticeably darker than my original. Yay!! Does anyone have any words of hope? Know the truth behind the rumor? I would hate to ruin a brand new fender when the whole point is to restore factory luster.
The heartbreaker/fury maker. Hood was pushed up and bumper cover squished when it happened also. Have since been reshaped, aligned and located. All it needs is paint on the bumper cover Another paint code Be sure to wear respirator! Preparation and patience are key always. Practice fender. Midway through spray Will be having a look at the side vent issue as well. Took mine off while doing this because well, paint but also am adding a west coast corvette complete vent/exhaust light kit (which quit working once exhaust end was added). If you take yours off reinstall with the fender off to insure proper torque/placement or it will shake free if you do any real driving. First time commenting or posting but surely not the first time reading. Thank you all for the collective knowledge and advice.
