Default Dynamat...ALL over the the damn place!

West Coast Corvette just got done with sound deadening the Z. We went from the foot wells up front all the way to the tailights, including the doors, wheel wells and halo.
WCC performed sound meter readings before and after the Dynamat installation. I will be picking up the car tomorrow morning and getting the db readings.
We also installed an aFe CAI, Intercooler Coolant Expansion Tank and Corsa X-Pipe. The db readings may be skewed now with the addition of the X-Pipe???
Enough of my ranting. Here are some pics:

Those pics make me cringe everytime I see them. That is not a project I would have the patience to perform.

Mad Props and Respect to Chris and the WCC team!

Obviously not your goal, and perfectly acceptable, but any idea how much weight that all added? I know the boxes of that stuff are relatively heavy.

Gonna be quiet. But now it's about 4100 with driver. Fat Cat territory. Nice job though. Probably took 8-10 hours.

According to WCC, @ 200 lbs added weight.

You are right, not trying to lighten the car. I want a quieter in cab ride to enjoy conversation and not have to blast the radio. If I want exhaust, roll down the window. I am no spring chicken anymore and it is showing with this FREAKIN' EXPENSIVE mod.

I will report back tomorrow with a review after a spirited drive.

@ 2.5 boxes of Dynamat Extreme and @ 200 lbs of added weight.

Definitely not for everyone. Just giving the forum another mod, for those that want to quiet down the interior.

Super Chevy mag did a piece on WCC and their first Dynamt install. I will post the link in a bit.

As a person who has "undone" someones dynamat mod (dynamat extreme at that), I can say that getting that sh*t out is an official NIGHTMARE. My M3 track **** was PACKED with it...literally had 2 of my guys working on it for approx 2 wks after other shop projects were done.

At least you added mods to offset the hp/weight loss you created I suppose. Should come out even in the end. Definitely would be a deal breaker for me, were the car for sale.

I think no turning back with removal that stuff sticks tough. Then the build in 200 plus pounds really is not reversible with Horsepower. 2 people in the car and your over loaded for any tracking or racing. Then I don't think it will get rid of all the noise. The block it removable is the way to go. In and out in seconds.

We discussed all the options and I made the decision to go Dynamat. Back in my younger days, I worked in car audio. I used Dynamat, Stinger and the cheap knock off stuff from China. I liked Dynamat the best.

On my C6, I used the Crazy Cowboy insulation kit, which looked like carpet jute cut to spec. I glued that sucker down with 3M adhesive. It was not coming up. My C6 sold, no problem.

I want to enjoy my Z now. I don't track the car. Future plans include Long Tubes, a tune, and upgrade the blower to a centrifugal or bigger roots? The jury is still out on that!

Yeah, the Dynamat is in there for good, but that is alright with me and I hope it will be alright with the new owner when I move on to the next ride. Until then, I will enjoy the ride.

My dumbazz also installed a huge sound system in my C6. Heck, that probably added close to 500 lbs.

So yeah, I am good with adding weight as long as I am happy with the mod.

Every car is different. I did not go big car audio this time around??? I don't use the hp I have now, but want to add more. This disease is getting the better of me again! Some of you guys got it REALLY bad. When I grow up, I want to be like some of you guys!

Yeah, thanks for sharing, very interesting. Personally, It would disturb me to see my Z stripped down like that, but I like that you're going all out to make yours suit your desires.

If you change the blower, I hope you post it up, as I would find that even more interesting. Good luck!

I love the DSOM!

For me it's not about engine noise. I can't believe how much general road noise these cars have.

It comes off...just not easily...took a lot of chemicals, and a lot of sweat, that's for sure.

Some people claim to have good luck using dry ice to make it brittle and then chip it off. Don't know if being on a composite substrate would make that risky or not.

How much did this cost? I considered doing this to my C7 but only doors and trunk. I'm sure you'll notice a tremendous improvement in cabin noise and radio clarity. IMO, do what you like with your car. Not everyone wants to be a track rat.

OP I know you didn't perform this project personally. Any reason why they preferred Dynamat vs other good products such as Second Skin and Sound Deadener Showdown? I'm thinking you would of added less with using less CLD tiles? Just asking.
