Is it just me? Z06 on drag radials unsettling???
I have had a LOT of cars over the years and drag raced most ALL of them. Many on drag radials.... BUT this car to me on 18" MT drag radials is VERY unsettling... feel like I am making corrections all the way down the track.
Anyone else notice this or am I nuts? Or maybe my particular set of Drag Radials are not the norm...

There was a guy in this thread who had similar sentiments. I still don't see the difference and as you, have street driven thousands of miles on 15-18" MT ET Streets with no issues

Stock front wheels/tires and rear 18x12 wheels with I think 345 rear MT's not sure have to look.
I'm wondering if wide stock fronts is the prob. I know in the old days with ET Streets bias tires you would need to run bias up front but didn't think would have issue with radials in back.

I'm running MT 20" DRs and noticed on the highway that it wandered a little compared to the original tires. It wasn't something I was looking for (ie: not psychological), I was just driving and wondering "Why is it following ruts today?"
I think any time you soften the sidewall it's going to wander more, and 18s are going to be softer yet than 20s.
Never had an issue in any other car, including the C6Z, though. Then again it wandered with the stock tires and this one doesn't, so they improved it. Going to DRs just seemed to undo whatever goodness GM did.

When I first got the car in July I started off running 315/30/18 Hoosiers and they felt a little unsettled going down the track but nothing serious.
A few weeks later I tried a set of 305/35/18 Mickey Thompsons (because they were closer to the stock tire height) and HOLY CRAP, were they freaking scary!
I think I ran the car 5 or 6 times that night and on half of my passes I almost had to lift as I was afraid I was gonna put the car into the wall. I know it had nothing to do with the track as Sonoma is a great track and I trap much higher with my C6 without issue.
I ended up going back to the Hoosiers and things were fine again (for the most part) so I was relieved there wasn't something wrong with the car.

No, you're not nuts as I experienced the same thing.
