so according to the specs, the zp's in stock size are in fact wider then the non zp's in 325/25/20? can we confirm with pics of both tires mounted on cars?

The section width is only 0.3" different. Nothing you can see in a picture. The tread difference is 0.7 " so you might be able to notice the non ZP does crown to a bit smaller tread width but again I doubt you would notice it. But don't forget the 1.2 mm extra tread on the non ZP. Should help in wear.

Now the compounds are different and some have said in similar threads that they don't like the Non ZPs as well as ZPs at the limit during a HPDE. So figure out your use and buy accordingly. I did like the Non ZPs quite a bit on my C6Z but I was not tracking that car. Likely will stick with the ZPs on the C7Z.

I swear that something must have changed. I know - conspiracy theorists. The MPSS was listed as wider than that. I thought I had a screen shot of it, but can't find it. I just measured my un-mounted 325/25/20 and its 12.75" of tread, not 12.3. All meaningless of course because it's not mounted. I'll have to get a picture of both side by side when I swap out the ZP's.

Well Gents, I just placed an order for a set of 275/30/19 and 325/25/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S from DiscountTireDirect and should be getting them shortly. I will report on true sizing as soon as i get them on my car. From all the research I've done, this seems like the best option for my mostly street driven car.

OK, you guys keep saying "stranded". I'm going to need that elaborated on. Are you saying you've never picked up a nail? Never had a flat? Never had a blowout? What does "stranded" mean to you? I mean, I've never been stuck on the side of the highway with no way to get home, if that's what you mean. I've driven a few miles on a flat even, and then had my car towed from my house. "Stranded" is a term that I think means something, that while inclusive, is mostly beyond the scope of a run flat

Steve, CNY I will guess is Central New York. My shop Jeffreys Auto Body is in N. Syracuse (CNY). Agree I have never had a flat after 35 years either with Corvettes but it should be expected with our pot hole roads that are just a bit better than a bike trail!

... WITH Corvettes. That implies you've had a flat in other cars. If you've never had a flat EVER in 35 years of driving, you need to start playing the power ball. I've been driving less than 20 and I've had more flats than I can count. Hell I got 2 while I was still in high school (that I remember. could have been more). I even got one while I was stationed in Germany, so it's not just that SC roads are full of nails and debris (though they are).

I've never had a flat and never been stranded in 36 years of driving. I have picked up the occasional nail or screw with plenty of warning from a slow leak. No in my performance cars I've never picked up a nail, screw, had a leak or anything.

1997 Anniversary Z28
2004 CTS-V
2005 CTS-V
2006 SRT-8
2006 SRT8 (procharged 10.74@131.5mph)
2010 CTS-V sedan
2013 ZL1 convertible
2012 CTS-V coupe
2016 Z06 Callaway
2019 Z06

I've also played the lottery several times over the last 36 years and never won more than $5. So that debunks that myth as well. LOL

I suppose the lottery thing makes sense. You've used every drop of your luck avoiding road debris :-p Though I do consider picking up a nail "getting a flat", it just isn't instantaneous.

You people have the worst luck if you need run flats because you're getting flat tires.

Last time i had a flat, was in my altima, in 2010. And i was 1/4 mile from work and i got a flat a block from a gas station (in which the guy plugged it for free).

In the United States alone, approximately 7 tire punctures occur every second, resulting in 220 million flat tires per year. Statistics also show that every driver will experience on average up to 5 flat tires in their life time.http://www.activetools.com/education-center/the-science-behind-our-compressorsIn addition to that, a quick google search will show you a plethora of people wondering why they're getting so many flats. Just because YOU have been lucky, doesn't mean others have been UNLUCKY.

I don't need to go a google search on anything. Is that how you base your life? On statistics? Before you have sex with a girl are you going to pull up google search and see how many guys finish in 5 minutes vs how many guys finish in 30?? What about your stroke? Are you going to google search the amount of strokes per minute a guy averages?

There is no need for a run flat. People are preaching it like it's the last coming. Why? Because RF's were on our cars from factory? So what. They're garbage. They're noisy, has a low life and they give your car a hard ride.

Just because YOU want run flats, doesn't mean you need to push the idea of OTHERS who DON'T, WANT..........THEM.

Jesus, you troll me more than anyone else on this forum. It's like you actively try to find threads I've posted in just so you can contradict me. I actually have Toyo R888Rs, if you read any of this thread, so I'm NOT running run flats. Also if you read any of this thread, you'd know I wasn't saying anyone SHOULD by run flats, just saying that people get flat tires and pick up nails and ****. I guess I'm going to have to put you on ignore at this point. Take care

The ignore tool is a way to stay sane in an online world.

Before runflats I would never get a flat unless it was on the side of the freeway at midnite in a driving rainstorm. No kidding. And I remember each of those incidents clearly. I love the piece of mind we get with the ZPs. And the new models are actually pretty good tires. If you wanted to try a stiff sidewall tire that was not a runflat go find one of the Kumho V700s from 10 years ago. Lordy it was like driving on a steel disk.

Notice i didn't quote you in my other post, you were the one who got bent and had to say something about what I SAID. So if anything, you're following me around, because what i'm saying has some sort of an effect on you that you just have to quote me to respond.

Do yourself a favor, put me on ignore. You don't post anything that i see as useful anyway. You're just cluttering every thread complaining, then blaming it on me lol

Haha. Exactly. Sorry you had to deal with that. Spare tires and run flats are like concealed carry or a fire extinguisher in your house. Sure you may never need it (though I've actually had to draw on someone twice in my life), probably will never need it, and sure hope you never need it. And the fire extinguishers I have on every floor of my house will probably expire having never been used and I will have "wasted" my money on them, but when they do go bad, I'll turn around and buy more without a second's thought. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. And now that I'm running non-run flats, I keep a bottle of fix-a-flat in the car, just in case. I had Kumho ecsta supras back in the early 2000s. I don't remember the V700s. Kumhos, as a korean brand, were much like the autos that came out of the same country. They sucked in the 90s and early 2000s. They're much better now though.
