Has there ever been a more impressive car for the money?
I am absolutely thrilled to be a member of this community and owner of a new Z06, my last two cars were my first "new" vehicle purchases which were a 2013 Subaru WRX and then a 2014 Evo X which I owned for about a year each and traded up for my Z last August...
I was not happy with the performance of my last two cars after owning a highly modded 2010 Yamaha R1, my first and last crotch rocket, so I upgraded vehicles from the Evo to a 2016 ZO6 based mostly on the forums and the constant praises to the performance of the Z06 which I happened to like the looks of better than it's main rival the GTR.
In all honesty I was not expecting or even remotely prepared for the amount of attention the car would get and I had made a relatively big jump from used and then allwheel drive Japanese cars under 40k vehicles to the Z.
I am curious for all you old school car guys if there has ever been a vehicle that has compared in performance and super car style to the new Z06 at 80k to get your foot in the door relative to it's price based on modern inflation, I've read that the previous ZR1 with similar performance retailed new for over 100k although I'm not sure about that and I don't think it even remotely compared in super car styling to the new Z, in fact I barely noticed the old ZR1 although after further research I know that it is an amazing vehicle to you fellas that still have one!

There are a lot of very impressive fast cars out there today coming from American car makers...
Corvette Z06
Tesla P90D
Mustang GT350
Dodge Hellcat
etc...
..and this isn't even considering the foreign carmakers, who also have a HP arms race ongoing. Reminds me of the HP wars of the 60's. Enjoy it now and take advantage, it won't last. The Eco-****'s and environmentalists will have there sway soon enough, and the pendulum will swing the other way.
I agree that the Z06 gets a lot of attention and in my opinion is one of the best buys and best lookers...although I may be biased.

First, Welcome to the corvette community and you have a beautiful ride! You should be very proud!
It's good to see someone that is as excited as you are over your purchase. I remember the first time I plunked down my hard earned money for a new corvette and felt exactly the same as you do. (early 90's) That makes me an "old school guy" Also, thank you for the compliment regarding those of us that still have a C6 ZR1. We're all corvette lovers and that should apply to any corvette.
If you and I were close friends sitting around on a Saturday afternoon having a beer and talking cars I would make some comments about if you haven't noticed a ZR1 yet just wait until I pull up beside you on the interstate. I bet you'll notice me then because you're going to see a lot of my round tail lights. You would probably say something like bring it on dude and we'll just see. We would both laugh a little and keep talking about the highlights of both cars.
So if you ever get down to Georgia keep your eyes peeled for a Cyber Gray ZR1. First beer is on me and I'll take you for a ride. Before we start drinking of course!
enjoy that beautiful Z06. White looks amazing on those suckers.

i jumped from the evo x too,was one day away from a full out build with 700 whp and then the pricing came up on yahoo for the vette and i just thought to myself dam i paid 40k for this car and another 10k for the boltons/trans work,5k for kit,and another 10 for build/ams motor etc.So at this point i was at around 65k for an unreliable 2.4!!Thats not counting if the trans broke into two while doin 6500rpm launches so it was a no brainer with looks and 5 year warranty so good choice for opting out of the *** cars..and getting the fastest color

For starting ~80k, the Z06 is an overall winner....
For starting ~50k, the GT350 all the way....
For starting ~60k, I guess the Hellcat and all its mystique....
That's my opinion

Congrats on the new beast.
This question is subjective as it's all a matter of how thick your wallet is.
I think the 911TTS is at least equally impressive. You do pay dearly for it but the overall engineering and quality is superior to the vette.
It can hard launch 100 times without failing (check youtube if you have not seen the video),0-60 consistently well under 3 seconds, do 10.8 1/4 stock all day and be on a track as advertised without losing power.
The only car beating this kind of performance is a hypercar (P1, 918, Laferrari)
Not here to start a war and don't get me wrong, I love the vette and it is an amazing bang for the buck in its own way.

I agree with everyone on here, but you have to throw the GTR in the group at that high end price point. I came from a GTR and there is no denying it as a bad *** car. I'd include Porsche as well. All of these cars have different power deliveries. Honestly, I have 250 miles on my Z06 now and I love the car more as the days go by. Car is a freaking blast to drive.

I love my 2015 Z06, and at this time in life I think it is the best car I have ever owned. It has more innovations and technology than any other car I could have bought for the price, but at the time I could have said that about any number of cars over the years.
I remember my 1964, 365 HP, C2, which to this day still brings fond memories when I dumped the clutch on it the first time. For the time, that was a really great car.

OP...
In the spirit of what you're asking, I don't think your question has really accurately been answered.
I think, when you look at the Z06 RPO code, it's set a benchmark of performance per dollar. Coming off of the C4 generation (84-96) ZR1 (90-95 specific to ZR1), the Z06 matched that cars performance and dropped the pricetag extensively. When the C5Z debuted in 2001, it was a game changer car for the money.
So, recognize it's not so much the C7Z, it's pretty much the Z06 RPO and what it's achieved.
Has a car compared to it, sure. I think the 458 Italia represented a bang for the buck, when you compare what it achieved versus the Enzo. A 458 is very expensive relative to a C7Z, but it's also very cheap relative to an Enzo or LaFerrari.
In certain sectors of business there are "interrupters"...cars that change the game, and Z06 is definitely that, which makes it a hard car to follow up on, generation after generation. In the pricerange of 55k-110k'ish...how anyone ignores the Corvette is beyond me. In the used market how you ignore a C6Z for 33k or a C5Z for 20k is also beyond me. At all three levels, there is really no comparison for the level of performance and reliability.
So, have other markets been interrupted in the same way? I think Tesla is an interrupter for sure. Whether it's a bang for the buck though, maybe not, but it is a hard car to ignore.
I think it's safe to say the 65 Mustang is a car that fills a certain void, and it was affordable...it also certainly led to a market that endures to this day.
It's a hard question and one that could start an in depth debate...lol.
One thing I know is, coming from evo's and wrx's (both good cars imo), the Z06 is clearly on a different level. AWD cars are certainly grip monsters, but they are also numb driving experiences, though I'll say an Evo is a great car. If you had an 04 Sti that's a different story, but the modern Sti's just didn't have the spirit of the earlier cars (I back that up with multiple discussions with internal development guys for the STi program).
Enjoy your car man...watch out for these old boys, they can get crazy. The C7 diversified the gene pool...

This is nonsense..... Sorry but true..... I have zr1 and May be adding new z06 this year at some point.
Your zr1 could be 32 off list and it's still depreciated another 10-20k based on miles...... These cars are not deals In any way shape or form..... They just go down I value and that's fine.....
Op has a great car!

The C6Z when introduced was considered to be the fastest car for the money... At $65K new, nothing could touch it. The GT-R was introduced in 09 at roughly $70K I believe, this was also considered one of the best sports car for the money. Although the price of the GT-R has been creeping up ever since and now can run you $100K, much like the new Z06.
