Z06 or CTS-V
Looking to get some insight from everyone. I currently have a 15' Z51 manual and considering pulling the trigger on a 16' Z06 or 16'Ctsv.
Which would you get and why? Also, if I get the Z06, which option Auto or Manual?
thanks!

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. If you're going to the track more than once or twice get the C7Z. If you need seating for 4 get the CTS-V.
Honestly, I'd have bought a CTS-V to go with my C7Z if they offered it in a manual transmission. I hate driving automatic trans on the street and on track the automatic C7Z has a harder time dissipating heat.

The V is a great car but it's a Four Door. If you're thinking about a ZO6, a 2+2 is more your speed than a Four Door.
Plus you can pocket the extra money between the ZL1 and a V.

Definitely two different animals. I own a manual 2014 CTS-V and it's a great car. I won't buy a new V unless they bring back a manual option. I also have a 2016 Z07.
I track both cars - the V is a solid platform that seats four comfortably, is quiet and loaded with comfort. It's also a solid track performer when set up for it. I can't speak to the 16, but my 14 needed a diff cooler, better sway bars and race pads. It also could really use better brake cooling but afaik no one has made spindle ducts for the car. It handles well, tends to under steer significantly requiring deft trail braking, but is relatively quick for a street car on the track. My best lap times are in the 2:40 range at COTA. The V is also a pretty stealth ride, rarely attracting attention.
The Z is much quicker on the track - 2:30 is my best at COTA. It doesn't understeer. It's quite comfortable on the highway (to me at least), but it's louder, harder riding and significantly more expensive to track, particularly with ceramic brakes. Obviously it's also impossible to take the family to dinner in it . The Z attracts attention everywhere.
Bottom line is I love both cars. If I could only have one, though, I'd probably pick the V because it has much more overall utility for me. If utility wasn't a concern, though, the Z is infinitely more capable on the track.

2016 Z hit the nail on the head. I was a former CTS-V owner (1-V1 and 2 V2 all manual) and have not driven the V3 but hear it is awesome even with the auto trans. It will however need some work to be setup for the track. The Z06 (mine being a vert is not set for the track) can be made track ready much easier. My solution to cover all of my needs for utility and fun was to get three cars:
Z06 for fun
STS-V for size and comfort on an evening out
Jeep Rubicon Unlimited for towing and bad weather. Also fun with the top off but in a much different way.

Just wait for the Camaro ZL1. It'll be lighter than the V, and the Camaro boys ain't no joke.

Honestly I've been looking at the ATS-V a lot if the goal is to have four seats and also track the car. It's smaller and lighter than the CTS-V and you can get it in the manual transmission.
In my case I like having a "plan B" in case I'm signed up to instruct and the C7Z is down for some reason.

Understood... but many folks just need the back seats for younger or smaller kids. Keep in mind the OP is considering a Vette 2 seater as an option as well. When you take that into account the ZL1 is a home run for their needs.

Make this one a choice as well, it may fit right in middle of where your target is. Not as nice as either but at this price it certainly deserves a look see.

I'm thinking about trading my 15 stingray A8 for the new ZL1 when available....it looks bad *** specially with that quick shifting A10 and it seems all the cooling issues are fixed!
