Default New Design Whipple 2.9..... Fit under Z06 hood

Talked to whipple on friday and they are going to be releasing this kit for the new 2016 camaro
https://whipplesuperchargers.com/ind...product_id=369

He said that when doing a blower set up for the z06 (which they will get into) they will do that blower design because it should fit under the z06s hood.

I really hope this one comes out since thats the biggest unit out there and going from a 1.7 to a 2.9 especailly in that new design should give great numbers.

Update.....
will fit under z06 hood

i have a 2.9 whipple on my 15 Silverado and love it. if they come out of with direct swap 2.9 for the LT4 that fits under the stock hood it's gona be a game changer. that with a 103 TB and LT"s would move some serious air.

kbs stick up a lot, also kb being 2.8 id rather go 2.9 whipple but the 3.6LC KB would be a great upgrade. Over 2x bigger than stock blower. the 3.6LC 14 PSI/headers/intake/meth/cam your prob looking at 850-900 rwhp.

Heck that 4.2LC whipple at 14 psi without any other mods would do 850..... but tons of horror stories with KB iat temps

Nope, way too tall. Also that kit was made for LS engines, so it won't work on any 2014+ Corvette.

2.9 blower is a game changer for sure with that design... That's a 1740 cfm blower (serious air)
A ltx DI engine could probably do 900rwhp or better with one moving close to redline on blower speed

2.9 blower should have less heat on 15 psI Vs oem blower at 15 psi that's for sure

Seems to me that the whole idea is to remove heat. Callaway, while not ideal with cutting the hood, accomplishes that goal while making good power.

Obviously very hard to tell but it looks like the intercooler bricks are pretty small on that one. The 2300 intercoolers look much bigger.

Do t forget it's not just size you need to think about. The 1740cc per rev rotor pack can actually shift more air than the 1900 thanks to the higher upper RPM limit. It's about size and max rpm.

Anything over the 2300 will need to stick out the hood I think. It's a shame whipple are only just offering the 2.9 with front drive front feed. Would also be nice to see the 4.0 in the same confirmation.

Would be nice to see that blower sat on top of a monster intercooler though.

Cutting a hole in the hood makes a big difference in heat. Its not just the blower that's making it cooler its also thr fact you have a biggggg hole in your hood to get rid of that heat. If you cut hole in your oem hood underhood Temps would drop dramatically

Packaging is easier on the Gen 6 Camaro.
