Default These threads get out of control. Play nice.

I read some of these threads and I laugh out loud at how far off track they get and the personal attacks are crazy. reminds me of this movie clip. If your bored watch from1:30 to the end. pretty funny. Lets all lighten up. Life is to sort to be pissed all the time. Have a good day.

It's amazing actually. I was on the CTS-V forums and people are incredibly civil. It's a great community and they don't tolerate attacks. I'd have guessed the demographic should be pretty similar for the Vette forum. Then I came here and it's a constant flame-throwing match. Every time an interesting topic comes up, it degrades into either a Zora hypothesis thread, an M7 vs M8 thread, or some kind of 'I'm a better engineer/racer/corvette owner than you thread' where people interject any accolade they can to support their claim to superiority over another poster.

That's how I approach Corvette Forum: "When it's time to leave, just hope that you're not hurt" :-)

I'm active on two forums: this one and the GM 67-72 pickup truck forum. You'd think it would be the other way around, but the pickup owners are civil, educated, and generally pretty talented.

This forum is primarily wind and noise, and the people that do actually have the intellectual chops to add value are usually too busy pedantically correcting grammar and flaming mortals to be of use. I thought one guy was going to have an aneurism over a semantic definition, let alone a fact.

I actually don't mind either way - even though this is a lot more "rough and tumble" than the truck forums it's still weird that for a dose of decorum and logic I have to go hang out with the pickup owners.

The other thing that's pretty unique to this forum is the "groupie" factor. As in you disagree with Bob and then Steve and Tim come out of the woodwork with "Oh, you can't disagree with Bob, he's a genius!" even if Bob is way out to lunch. I wonder if its not Bob with multiple accounts some days, as the groupie thing is almost exclusive to here (at least in my experience).

Ironically, some of the more annoying people on here have already been banned over there so it's also a useful break. Even though I put the major offenders on the Ignore list, people still quote them from time to time.

I first officially got on this Forum in 2002. I read it for a few years prior to that. I have noticed a big change here in the last few years. Certain peoples like to jump on others for no apparent reason. Maybe they just like to see their numbers rise. I have seen so much of if you had researched this you would have answered your own question. If you dont like what the person asked then just go on to the next post. We need a whole lot less complaining herein. When it comes to researching, I researched and did not find anything. I did it again later and things show up. Who knows why???

Good point Moon. The ones quick to challenge the least little things are usually the guys that got no respect back on the playground, and they use their keyboard to mouth off, like they are so big and bad. All the time shielded by the i-net anomymity. Sad, sad. Unfortunately the truth is that way too many Z owners are the nerd-ish type that can now afford a man's muscle car; only requirement is the $. They like that feeling of POWER (that they paid for). They didn't ever earn real, man's, power sitting in the back of the school room with their heads stuck in those books. Then they find that all powerful keyboard as well, and they love pissing off those same guys that kicked sand in their face at the beach. IMHO. Sorry, but think about it? and looks around at your fellow Z owners at a car show or cruise night. I rest my case. To my fellow Z owners that don't fit this description, and like to wrench, and race: Don't take offense, just be thank fun you can enjoy your cars as they were built to. No need to break the law by speeding on the streets. Pay the track fee and eat it up........damn it so much fun!!

Yep, it's just a few bad apples that spoil it for the rest of us around here. These people are the main reason I don't post anymore than I do. Plenty of nice people here and then there are some that I just have to shake my head about. DISRESPECTFUL people. I have to wonder if that's how they act in their day to day life. Hard to see how they could ever be successful with the attitudes they present on here.

Thanks for starting this thread. It's something I've been wanting to say but have kept my mouth shut about.

And a HUGE thanks to all of you kind people who don't act like those few others that bring this place down.

There are those who wait for someone to make a mistake, use incorrect or poor grammar, call an Engine a Motor or spell a word wrong, then pounce on the "mistake" in an effort to look superior. I have been a member since 2007 and rarely post. In January, I just picked up my latest Corvette, A Laguna Blue ZO6 and it has renewed my interest in posting and being involved. I come here to have some fun and enjoy the comradery, not to be lectured to.

Lets wait to see who's the next one asking about oil, octane, tires, temperatures, and any other topic covered in the owners manual.

AMEN! Brother! Mostly they are younger who bought a old C5 or C6 and they come in here.
They cannot afford what us more mature folks can so they try to ruin it for others, they really ruin the place!

You're an idiot!!! Arctic White is the best color. Quit bringing your one-sided opinions to this forum. Whew! I feel so much better about myself now. Sorry, I just couldn't resit.

Are you the same DevilDog that gave the Viper guys a hard time way back when? Just curious.

This may be the most dysfunctional sub-forum on this entire site. Which is a shame, as there are folks with tremendous knowledge that post in here. It can be a great resource for information and help, but man, you gotta wade through a disproportionate level of self-validation addiction, trolling and general BS.

I agree. There are a lot of young and immature Corvette wannabees here.

Can’t imagine there are so many of the young crowd dreaming of a 67-72 GM Truck. Not that there aren’t mind you. Just a different group is all.

I am on my 3rd Z06. Posted about my most recent acquisition out of excitement and got flamed about where I live, how I parked. Just don’t get it sometimes.

Now I'm gonna puke. These forums are a microcosm of life. Not everyone loves you, and just because you have access doesn't make you a great philosopher. If you own a car that won't pass tech on any sanctioned drag strip in the country and you go on and on about your drag radials you should expect to be laughed at. That's all part of life.
