This is true.

I encourage him to ask the Mods to close this thread.

I am interested in talking about the Z06 at THIS website, not politics...there are other sites for that stuff.

However, I find your motives conflicted and not because you "defaced" a Vette...more power to ya.

I find the fact that you cover an American icon with Bernie bumper stickers (a car that embodies capitalistic success and ingenuity) ironic given that it personifies everything that Bernie stands against. Not to mention its loud, youthful, obnoxious, self serving, gets horrible gas mileage, hasn't hugged a tree recently...oh yeah, AND NOT EVERYONE CAN OWN ONE!

I had seen some of your previous posts with your Z06 bumper wrapped in Bernie stickers and actually read into it as you thumbing your nose at the Bern by letting him (the stickers) accumulate road rash, bugs, and dirt all while protecting your capitalistic self interests (your Z06).

So, now that I learn you're a Bernie supporter, I have to chuckle...maybe rather than plastering your wife's Tahoe (what kind of liberal are you?), perhaps you should paste a Yugo with Trump stickers, and broke down panel van with Hilary stickers and complete your ironic dynamic Trio.
Composition is stellar? What kind of designer are you? Graphic artist? Did you attend college for design? Associates or B.A.?

Just curious. What I see is a mess. There is no clear visual structure and patterns over patterns over patterns. The main appeal is the politics of the statement but from a composition standpoint, IMO it's a fail.

Plus, Bernie is the worst kind of lying, populist power grabber. He knows exactly what misery his policies will bring and he lies by omission to people ignorant of economics and history. He is not a "true believer" or a naive sheep. He is a wolf in a crazy grandpa's clothing.

Whaaa! Me thinks you need tougher skin. If not for this thread, what else is there to talk about? Floor mats? Cup holders? A new intake! (seriously that's about it.)

Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06

Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06

We always try to stay out of politics when it comes to Corvettes but sometimes in a crazy political season, it’s really hard to stay above the fray. Especially when folks are willing to dress up a $100,000+ Corvette Z06 in a candidate’s swag.

The last time there was a presidential race going on, the candidate with the politically-wrapped Corvette was Ron Paul. This year, it’s Bernie Sanders and a C7 Corvette Z06.

But that’s the current fate for this formally Black Corvette Z06, which was originally purchased by Jim Glickenhaus for his daughter Veronica.

Glickenhaus, a former movie director and current investment banker, is the owner of a fantastic car collection and the Z06 Corvette was a gift to his daughter for a promise he made to her long ago.

Veronica’s husband Gene Leeds has had some different ideas about their 650-horsepower grocery getter by once promising to drive it all winter long (he didn’t or if he did, he never mentioned it again).

Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06

Now, the Corvette Z06 is doing duty as “Bernie Sanders Art Car” for a school project.

Luckily, there was still rational thoughts when Gene designed the art car using a clear 3M vinyl wrap that allowed him to paint over it. Whenever he decides to remove the custom artwork, it should just peel right off.

Here is what Gene told Jalopnik about the process:

I’m a visual art student at Columbia University. I’m looking to get into making art cars for people when I graduate this summer. Personally, I feel there’s much more presence in a car that’s actually painted as opposed to using printed vinyl. I first wrapped the car in Sanders stickers and then painted red, white, blue, and clear 3M vinyl using a printmaking process called silkscreen. Once all that dried I painted clear acrylic over the new paint to protect it from the elements. From there it was all cut and paste.

Why Sanders? Well I enjoy the political theatre every four years surrounding the presidential election, and this year has needless to say been overwhelmingly entertaining and often concerning.

My candidate is Bernie Sanders for all the reasons that have finally become clear to people by now. I wanted to do something extremely American with an American car in an attempt to support the underdog. The response thus far has been 99% positive which is far more than I was expecting. Other than my coming out of a store and seeing that someone spit on it, a lot, people of all ages and backgrounds have asked to take photos of it.

Parents ask if their their kid can sit in it. At least once a day an older woman will come up to me and say “Bernie must win I’ll never vote for Hillary.” I’ve been lucky enough to have driven and ridden in a lot of supercars and hypercars, but I have never experienced the overwhelming attention this thing gets during my 100 mile round trip in and out of the city. Hopefully Bernie will survive tomorrow and the car wont become outdated anytime soon.

When I do eventually peel it, it will still be pristine.

Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06 Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06 Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06
Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06 Feeling the Bern? You will in a Bernie Sanders Corvette Z06

Are you feeling the Bern yet?

Surely there is irony in using a $100,000 sports car to promote a candidate that complains about income inequality and wants to tax the rich, but hey, that pretty much sums up this year’s crazy Presidential election.

Mods have already been in this thread. And maybe it's the OP's fault for posting it here and not the people responding as he asked for.
BTW, if you don't like it, don't read the thread.

You're not curious at all. It's not like I'm the first on this thread to like the art without liking the candidate, but your reaction is to insult me because you disagree? Classy.

I didn't realize you were the foremost authority on design, but good to know your Graphic Arts BA from your local Community college is serving you well!

This certainly went better than I was expecting. I appreciate the mods keeping it in the Z06 section. That said I'll address a few things.

Firstly, I value the car very much and it can very easily be returned to stock. The type of bumper stickers used were after much research and they easily peel off as they are made with the same vinyl people wrap their cars with. This isn't your grandfather's paper and glue bumper sticker.

Secondly, I am not a Democrat nor a Republican. When I was younger I considered myself a Republican and voted republican however as time went on the party went down the sh!tter and moved away from my beliefs. I think even the most staunch Republicans here can see the party is having some "issues".

Lastly, I know he's not going to win. I knew this when I wrapped it and I still know this. That said, I believe in what he represents...which isn't socialism in the way many of you are looking at it...to me, he represents compassion.

I am curious, however, from a self-preservation perspective, do you feel that your own needs conflict with Bernie's ideals, since you likely fit into the category of "haves" that would have to "give a little more" to help facilitate his vision? Or do you feel doing so is your civic duty? I'm genuinely curious about this.

An easier question: Am I missing something, or did you apply 300 bumper stickers directly to your car? How the hell do you intend to get them off?
Thank you for your kindness and sincere question. Truth is I grew up lower middle class and married into a very wealthy family. When I was still busting my *** and paying for my own C6Z06 in 2006 I still did fun and interesting things with it that weren't the standard Corvette protocol because...it's just a car people. The family I married into is socially liberal and has given many millions of dollars away to charities for decades...and they're still really really rich. You can in fact help the less fortunate and be wealthy. In this new lifestyle I fell into I've come to know and see extremely wealthy people and one thing is clear to me. Someone with a lot of money isn't necessarily happier than someone with a little money. I'm not talking about the family I married into. They're as cool as can be and I look up to them very much. However the uber rich are at times still generally miserable and want more stuff just like the middle class and lower class. Well if you're going to be equally happy if you have 80 million or 60 million. How about have 60 mill and lets help out the unlucky. For those who are completely and utterly confused, the maximum tax rate under Bernie is 52% and that's for incomes over $10million. Some tax brackets are actually lower than current under his plan. BTW taxes are lower under Obama than Bush...just saying. There are many people in this country who have worked their entire life and still can't afford to pay the basic necessities. That is a problem. My grandfather busted his *** his entire life, raised a good family, didn't live lavishly, and now is on food stamps with his wife who's slowly dying of cancer while others foot the bill. When I start making an income I'd be more than happy to pay more to help others who are struggling. I know this is easy for me to say because I don't necessarily need to make another dollar my whole life. However I was always like this even when I was younger. To me, Bernie represents compassion. The fact that he has a 100% rating with the Human Rights council is good enough for me. If we're being real with each other Trump sucks and Hillary sucks. Personally I hope Gary Johnson gets some traction as I really like what he's been talking about. Let's look at it this way. I do not think hand outs and welfare is a good thing. So to me the best way out of the cycle of welfare is education. Trust me, if you all were born black and in the poor parts of Harlem most of you wouldn't have been so successful. Instead of argue about how much money we **** away which frankly I don't think should be much as I know many people of all types who play the system and we have to pay for it, let's figure out how to end welfare. Free education would be a great start. The amount of construction worker Trump supporters I know who go on disability between contracts is astounding. As far as education we're not talking about sending Trump's kids to Harvard for free. It's free public college. State schools are generally very very cheap to in state students. However that small amount is simply impossible to some families who are on hard times and need their kids to get through school the most. Let's take Planned Parenthood for an example. I don't like abortions and I wish there wouldn't be any. However, Planned Parenthood prevents far more abortions through the 95% of the work they do than the amount of abortions they help perform. Which by the way, history has showed us that when there's not access to abortion places the abortions still take place, at home, and frequently end up with more than one death. I believe that everyone should be given a chance even if someone wasn't born so lucky. My little kid in the photos already has an account with Morgan Stanley and is probably in the 1%. Hey that's great and good for him. But for every him there's a tremendous amount of kids that are born into abject poverty. In the greatest country in the world, the United States, that simply shouldn't be the case. As for the socialism part there's a huge difference between democratic socialism and socialism. If the education system in the US were better we wouldn't be comparing Sanders to the people my granddaddy fought in WWII.

So again. I realize 99% if you will disagree with me and 20% of you will do it while foaming at the mouth, and that's ok. This is America and we're all allowed to have our differences in opinion. Frankly I don't look down at anyone who supports Trump or anyone else. I look down on our educational system which has failed many and I look down on the way some of the Republicans use fear and hate as a way to get into power....pretty much exactly like the guy some of your grandfathers were fighting against. That said, I look down on the way many Democrats use minorities to get into office and then keep them in the welfare system for the next election. Both sides suck.

Love,
Gene

My original intent in leaving this thread in the section was because the car is a C7Z06 and despite being covered in Bernie stickers I expected the members to know how to direct themselves to PRC for political commentary and keep their comments here about the car and perhaps ask questions of the owner. I have went through and removed MOST of the either nasty comments or long political rants. I may have missed parts here and there and I edited some posts.

Can we please go forward like adults.

If any of you have a C7Z06 or a regular C7 that you want to cover in Trump stickers I will gladly allow you to have a thread here.

If you wanna do HRC I gotta draw the line

How exactly did I insult you? I was just asking questions. If you were educated in design, you would have learned to not take differing opinions about your work and credentials personally. We are talking about the work - not the person.

FWIW - I have a B.A. in Design and have owned and operated a multi-million dollar agency for almost 25 years working for clients including Harley Davidson, Kimberly Clark and many other household names.

I appreciate differing opinions but it is you that insulted me insinuating I went to a community college. In fact, I've taught design at the university level.

I note that you didn't provide any information on your credentials.

Ok don't understand why you did not remove the post in the first place?? Gene the socialist clearly intended to provoke political comments with the thread?

So I will direct this question to the owner like you requested.

Why the American flag on your so called art?
Bernie Sanders’ is a self-identified Socialist. I have served my great country for 23 years and know first hand how Bernie Sanders' Socialist Agenda would change America and the Corvette!! Why did you put the American flag and not the hammer and sickle to show your true agenda?

Yes MOD this is a valid question related to the OP thread.

ok USER, this is a valid answer. I clearly explained why I left it. Its a C7Z06. The fact that you and I don't agree with his political leanings doesn't change that.

<------also served in the US ARMY so don't play your veteran stuff with me...I get it.

BTW you can vote for his car in C7 of the month
