PowerStop Z26 vs Carbotech 1521 Brake Dust
I know most of us that don't track our cars would like less dust and are installing after market pads trying to achieve that. The problem is trying to determine which pads produce the least amount of dust. I spent the money to test these two brands so you can make a decision based on the results. It's hard to compare brake dust, so I used clear tape which I think is a fair way to show how much dust is on the wheels
I installed the Z26 on the left side and the 1521 on the right side, I sanded the rotors and washed them with brake clean before installing. I did the bedding process and then let the pads cool overnight. The next day I cleaned the chrome wheels and went on a ride taking dust samples from the chrome wheels at 25,50, and 100 miles using clear tape.
The Carbotech 1521 are good up to 800 degrees and do not include any hardware or brake lube.
The Powerstop Z26 are good up to 1500 degrees and include hardware and brake lube.
Here are the results if anyone is interested.

During the bedding of the pads the Carbotech 1521 initially grabbed more but after the bedding they were the same without pulling the steering wheel when coming to a stop. I thought the next day when they were cool that the 1521 would pull the wheel again but they grabbed the same and the wheel stayed straight.

I just installed the Z26's on my Z06 as well. I've only put about 50 miles on mine since the change, but the reduction in brake dust is worth the change for a street driver.
Thanks for the comparison. You're test seems to confirm what someone else that had both and posted the Z26's produced less dust than the carbotechs.

Pretty easy to see the powerstops produce less dust than their expensive counterparts.

I got my power stop Z26 pads today and will install them on Thursday
I have a question about the install. In the post on how to install pads for the C7 Z51 they say to put the anti seize lube on the edge of the pads but not showing in the picture to put lube on the rear of pads. Did you put anti seize lube on the back of pads where they contact the pistons?

Yes I put it on the back where it contacts the pistons. I do not have any noise when applying the brakes.

No not yet but I sanded, cleaned and bedded the pads. I see you have some noise with the 1521.
You could try sanding the rotors and wash with brake clean.
I would then brake from 45 mph down to 5 mph about 6 times with a fairly aggressive pedal to heat the brakes, don't stop but drive for another 5 minutes without using the brakes so they can cool down.
You could try the above without sanding or cleaning and see if it helps.

I put the Z26 on my '15 Z51 last fall after having tried the Carbotech 1521. I agree the Z26 are far better with dust over the 1521. I also feel what little dust that there is cleans up much easier than the 1521.

Good grief, I wish I had known this before I got the Carbotech pads for my Z06. I priced out the Power Stop Z26 pads front and back at Amazon.com, which cost less than half what I paid for the Carbotech through a forum vendor and this is before the rebate is taken into account!!

I have NEVER seen that much dust from 1521's in 100 miles on a car. NEVER. That's 15 years of using 1521 as well, my first set was the end of 2000.
There is no way to know if the OP removed the exact same amount of embedded brake dust from both sides or was even close to removal of the friction material that was on those rotors. In order for this "test" to even be marginally legitimate, which it is not, he has to have started with brand new rotors. HAS to.
What bedding procedure did the OP use with the 1521 since there is not one? He may have screwed up the 1521 by doing an actual bedding procedure and that could be the cause of the additional dust, again, making this test illegitimate.
No question they are cheaper. Carbon Fiber is expensive, so they can't be using much of it. Ceramic pads are low dust but they don't stop for anything and tend to be hard on rotors, grooving and wearing them prematurely. Do we have anyone with feedback on the rotor wear?
