Considering a trade from 2016 to 2017 Z06
Hey there fellow members, do you think that the 2015 and 2016 Z06s will take a hit in value if GM fixes the cooling issues for 2017? I don't know if they will, but if they do, I am worried about how my 2016 will be affected. Thoughts?

no it will not affect anything besides the 2016 being a year older. no one cares so much about "cooling issues" than the neurotic fanatic forum member. and remember to never sell your car on CF. Enthusiasts ask too much for their car and enthusiasts want to pay too little for yours.

Fill a briefcase with money and then walk out your front door and throw it in the street. That is what it's like to trade in a 2016 for the same model 2017 car. Madness.

Of course the 2015 and 2016 models will take a hit. They are a year or two older than the current car. Depreciation is steep. Those that trade in every year to get the latest have to have deep pockets.

Imagine the "hit" to the '17s when the '18s are released, and the "19s... If this is your biggest worry, then you're doing pretty good

Or
Go with the TIKT (or LG) mods if you are a tracker and want to blow off more heat than the current setup does.
Regardless, I agree with the above posters. Annual upgrades by purchasing new are very expensive.
Suggestion? Enjoy the car and worry about resale value when the time comes, later.

Got that right. I took a twenty thousand dollar hit when I went from a 15 to a 16 Z three weeks ago.

It was my understanding that there would be no cooling changes or any other significant changes for 2017. In any event, I don't know of any mid-cycle changes that had any significant effect on resale of a previous year car, except for typical depreciation.
But if you are going to buy new cars, you can't stress about depreciation. It is what it is....

Bad move.. Why are you worried about resale? Are you looking to sell in the next 2-3yrs if there were no cooling issues or GM was fixing MY17? If no.. And you are looking to keep the car a bit longer then the difference in depreciation year over year is all that's going to impact you. But if you trade it in now.. You will loose a lot more than over time. If you don't track then you really don't realize the upgrades anyways.

It's definitely a bad financial move, but if wait and see if the 2017 has any changes at all. It would be nice if the pre are cooling upgrades, but I'm not hopeful. If you want to upgrade I'd wait unti at leastl the 2018s come painted out of the new paint shop. The old saying goes, "it's cheaper to keep her".

'17 may have new wheels/colors/trim updates... but Mechanically?... not so confident..
Delay for '17 Z is supply side or maybe moving all motor production to BG takes time.. IMO
