Drove my new Z06 across country
Hi all,
Wife and I flew from California to Ohio to take delivery of 2016 Z06. We drove back to Calif through 10 states in 11 days for a total of 3500 miles. Here are some impressions:
Fabulous ride - very tight, very comfortable.
Remarkable power - especially from zero to 60.
Tight handling. Some states have 80 mph speed limits - so we had the opportunity to exceed 100 on a number of occasions. The car demonstrated great manners at high speeds.
Love the heads up that shows the speed limit with the car's speed.
Audio is ok but not great.
Tire wear on stock tires seems fairly good.
Some rock chips on rear quarter panels despite Xpel and ACS splash guards. One rock chip was embedded in the Xpel. I will install side skirts next week.
We must have had at least 100 compliments along the way. The wow factor is undeniable.
In Denver we got caught in rush hour traffic and the engine temp went up to 222. I stopped at a dealer and the service mgr assured me everything was ok for the Z06. The weather was in the 90s most of the trip. I never had another heating concern. The car ran at 192 most of the time - and we were not going slow. Great road trip!

Xpel on front, complete hood, side mirrors, lower side panels, wheel wells. Perhaps I should have wrapped the whole car. I have noticed a few small bubbles on the front. Hope there's a way to smooth them out. Fortunately the areas are very small.

Nice write up. My daughter and I leave this Friday for a road trip from Chicago to Maine. I do have the ACS side skirts, and installed the clips for a NovaStretch bra. Otherwise going nude, and plan in enjoying every mile. Can't wait!

Congratulations on your new Z06 What a great trip. Now, of course, we need to see some pictures of the car during the trip.
