Good day . Just a question .
Due to the poor 91 octane we get here in Northern Ontario Canada , I was thinking of trying some .
Has anyone tried or does anyone use any type of octane boosters in their fuel on these cars ?
If so , what brand and was there any noticeable difference .
OCTANE BOOSTERS ARE GARBAGE. The 104+ people should be in jail. A "point" is one tenth of an octane number, so 2 points takes you from 92 to 92.2.
All they do is provide upper cylinder cleaners to remove deposits that could be causing preignition on your old, carboned-up L88, as if that were a problem.
That said, there are race fuel concentrates. Those are different. And they're expensive and they work. Check out http://race-gas.com/ as an example of a real product. Torco, as mentioned by 1QuickZ above, also reads legit.
So, octane booster == snake oil. Race gas concentrate == good.

Not sure how things are in Canada.
But here in the states there is usually at least one place in or near each city be it a service station or fuel sold at or near a race track that has some really good high octane fuel. Possibly you have some place within a reasonable distance of you like this. Call your major service station suppliers in your area and ask them where you can get high octane fuel for your car.

Thanks for the link , trouble is , look at a map of Ontario , then find Timmins . Yup , we are way north of anything , last year one of the Gas stations said they were gonna be bringing in 94 octane , but , as most good things goes , it didn't happen . Closest 93 to us right now is a UPI store that's about 130 km's away
Torco has been shown to work. The high performance boating community likes this:
If you use actual race fuel, be sure to use only unleaded race fuel. There are leaded and low lead race fuels. You want to stay away from those as they'll smoke your cats.
These cars like octane. If you can find and blend MS109 unleaded race fuel with 91 or 93 octane, that works very well. A little pricey to run every day, but for track events it's worth it.
I've used Torco and Boostane both. They both work awesome. Boostane is a little cheaper mainly because of smaller loadings but both work great. I would use a quart per 5 gallons of 91 and make 104octane but I also had a tune for it.
The 104+ off the auto parts shelves is crap!! Google Boostane or Torco and you'll find a dealer close to you.
If all you want is to make 93 from 91octame the loadings will be minimal.
I will warn you that it will leave an orange coating on your exhaust also NOTE that I was catless at the time. It might be worth researching to make sure it doesn't plug the cats.
It does work though I used it for 3yrs straight at every fill up and matter of fact I still have a couple of cases left over in my garage.
Boostane also has an app from the App Store that'll calculate how much you need to add!!
I entered data on my app and to make 93 from 91 requires 1/2 quart per 15gals of gas so that equates to about $10 if I remember correct they were $20 a quart.

Torco works. Here, 91 is the best available and monitoring with HPTuners I was running 24 degrees of timing (max) and getting the occasional 1-2 degrees of KR. With half a can of Torco in a full tank I was running 25 degrees of timing with NO KR kicking in. I use it when I plan to race.

Thanks for everyone that replied , some really good info . I have found a local small shop that deals with Klotz , has anyone tried this Octane booster ?
I'll be picking up a 2017 Black Rose metallic Z06, and will do some dyno testing with Torco when I get it.
I've been running Torco in every tank full on my supercharged C5 for over a decade, that includes full road course days and runway shoots on 91 mixed with Torco.
I hit the dyno last week, 100 degrees in the dyno room out here in Cali that day, this pull was made with Torco/91.

Wow , that's some serious power for sure . So , adding the TORCO , do you see the car running a little cooler or does the higher octane resist the timing being reduced ?

The higher octane is basically there to prevent timing being pulled due to low octane, but I think it may help just a bit with temps, since detonation does cause some heat issues as well as potential motor issues...
I run 8 separate coolers for various aspect to specifically address potential cooling issues...

Hello,
Xylene, you should find it at your local paint store. Google for mix ratios.
If using Race Gas how long do you think it will take for the computer to re-calibrate?
I'm running 91 here in SoCal and the blend guide indicated 2oz per gallon would get me to 95.
I'd like to try it but concerned about time to re-calibrate (so I can use as my weekend fuel) and getting addicted (will 95 make a noticeable difference in my 91 world?)
Thx

In my other cars that weren't tuned for higher octane I would disconnect battery for a few minutes then reconnect and drive it. Always did the trick and the difference was noticeable. Not sure if that works on the Z though.
