Jason/Katech Crew,

GREATLY appreciated! Thanks for taking the time. BTW, I'm a good friend with Mike/TPC. I'm the guy who races the black Porsche 911T with the DSC controller and full shock package. You guys will sell a bunch of them once the fast/track guys get them and spread the word. I can't wait!

Holy crap that seems low,I paid around 90k for one of the first models with comp seats. Is this if you were to sell it to a dealer or private party?I guess thats not including a stage 3 setup either.

Using the Appraise my Car section on the Edmunds website --- the results show the following:

Edmunds True Market Value®

Dealer Trade-in: $61,983
Private Party: $64,486
Dealer Retail: $66,373

find your vinMyAppraise
Skip the Hassle, Sell Smarter
Dealers compete for your vehicle by sending offers by e-mail or text
Easier and safer than selling your car to private buyers
Absolutely no obligation to sell or buy
Enter Your VIN

Where can I find my VIN?

The numbers shown may be a bit lower than expected, but usually Black Book numbers are low depending on current auction results in your area.

That's what a dealer should expect to pay for it in trade in or auction. They don't take into account many options. KBB was the only one that had provisions for trim levels.

I used to attend dealer auctions with a small time dealer in upstate NY. He never considered the options when bidding. He took the base car value and the number of miles on the car as his guide.

I'm a used car dealer in Pittsburgh Pa. and I use NADA to price my vehicles.

Average auction $68,764

Average Trade In $69,575

Clean Retail $77,200

Most dealers try to stay as close as they can to auction value on a trade in value. You have to take into account how much mark up there is between invoice and sticker price and dealer hold back. They can show you more for your trade by using some of the profit and hold back. Good luck buddy!!

The values of these cars is also determined by the local market. As of today buyers can purchase a brand new 1Lz 2016 Z06s for GM Employee prices ($72K approx.) via forum dealers (please see Les Stanford thread under the Dealer Inventory Forum as one example). Furthermore current Corvette owners are eligible for further rebate incentives.

One idea to test the market price for any car is to put the car up for sale on ebay with a given reserve and see what the market says.

Also check the C7 for sale forum to determine what prices bring interest and sales versus those cars that are not priced properly, given the available brand new inventory and low prices of used C7s at dealers.

If the dealer can't make a good chunk of change they aren't going to do it. Try to sell it yourself at a little above trade in.

Take a look at this deal that was just completed on a brand new 2016 Z06 with the A8 --- with the loyalty rebates these cars are available for incredible prices if a buyer is willing to be patient and shop carefully - start with the Forum dealers.

The used C7 Z06 market prices are impacted by the sale prices offered on the brand new 2016 inventory, but prices can vary based on location.

Typical Corvette Forum response having NOTHING to do with the question asked by a Master of the Obvious. What a revelation. I never knew dealers wanted to make money. I thought they existed to give stuff away to people, sort of like the government....

As a couple of posts have noted, lots of variables go into valuing a trade in. The trade in price reflects what the dealer can get for the car at auction as well as what is happening in the new car market. Lots of discounts on new cars lower the wholesale value on used ones. In my first retirement job I spent 8 years selling BMWs and MINIs and evaluating trades. The advice I always offer is to get a true current trade in value, you need to get a real price from a real buyer, not a book. If there is a Car Max near you, go there. They will value it and give you a piece of paper stating the value that they will pay for the next seven days. Come back on day seven with the car and title and you get the money. That is a true current trade in value. Often higher than what a dealer might offer. If you want to trade to a specific dealer, make sure you bring the current Car Max offer. If their offer is lower, show it to them. I know that we would always match CarMax to earn a deal. And also depending on what state you are in, the trade in can lower the taxable sale amount; at least it does in Illinois. So where we were, a buyer would reduce his sales tax by 7% of the trade in value, which needs to be taken into consideration when evaluating your transaction --Bob
